Guys, I have been running my CM9 v1.7.5 for a couple weeks now and haven't needed to use any navigation or maps until yesterday. I noticed that my gps was off by a couple blocks!

I do not recall flashing the gapps .zip as I forgot or simply didn't realize I needed to :(. So, my question is this: is the gps fix in the gapps .zip? Can I simply flash the gapps .zip file over top the ROM I'm currently running? Thanks

Hey buddy!
Not familiar with gapps stuff but here's my semi-logical thinking.
If you flash the .zip again, I surmise it will overwrite the existing gapps.
Kinda like flashing another kernel.zip or rom.zip or DT.zip.
So there, that's my refreshed brain thought for the morning:D

I don't run CM, but here's a link to a thread about a GPS Fix

I'm familiar with that thread as I have actually dl'd that file, flashed it and now it does not seem to help! Still getting wrong gps readings...

Next? :smokingsomb:
Just curious, are you using google maps gps? Perhaps a glitch at the moment with google.
I wonder if telenav would be different.

HEy Mikey! Yes, I only use Google maps for my navigation. No other mapping I've used comes close to the ease of use as it offers.

When I flashed the CM9 ROM a few weeks ago, I did not flash the gapps.zip as I did not realize I needed to or was simply a 'noob-fart'! Anyways....

So far this morning I have flashed the aforementioned "Persistent" gps fix.zip....and I did not see any change once rebooted. Then, I flashed the 'correct' gapps.zip (for ICS) and now..IT WORKS!!! I can play golf again using my Swing-by Swing app!! Yay :D:D

I can't really advise on your gps issue, but as far as I know, most developers of CM9/ICS roms have gapps built-in. I would guess that if you were able to set-up your Google phone account or access the Play Store, gapps is already built-in. And you can simply flash the gapps.zip file over the current rom. Just make sure you download the right gapps and wipe cache and dalvik before flashing. Oh and you may want to do a nandroid first. ;)
