Root [ROM][PORT] Sharp ROM 2.2.2 for the Triumph (Updated: 12/16/12)

Run this ROM and you will pull the battery so rarely you'ill forget how to do it!

LOL, the only thing that stopped me was the fact that I have a cover that is a PITA to remove.

Hey BSydz, thanks for fixing the 2nd post with the links. It is greatly appreciated by this knucklehead :smokingsomb:

strange... MMS not working

im not sure what happened guys but i can no longer receive mms.. it says "Currently unable to download. Please try again later."

I've rebooted the phone and still get the same msg. I sent myself another mms from my friends phone to be sure it was just a fluke and I still get the same message. Whats going on??

I have the newest v7, could it be because that I have the sharp-sense.zip flashed on this? I am also using the SMS Popup app, not sure if that has anything to do with it. Help moi!

I would have to say that it is probably the sense theme, cause there were a lot of framework edits in Ver7. That is why I had to take all the MODs down in the second post. I'm not sure if jjohn7293 is gonna make another one for Ver7 or not. I did notice all my networks were down yesterday for most of the day, I tried multiple reboots and was about to panic thinking it was my ROM, but when they came back later in the day my speeds had doubled, now they are back to normal super slow speeds. So, it could be a network thing, I would see if a web page will load when this happens to make sure it is not a 3G thing. Hopefully somebody may have more ideas of what it may be.

Speaking of speeds. I ran speedtest in morning and I saw something that I never saw before:
1236 / 712 kbps .
8 minutes later:
663 / 599,
45 min later another attempt:
262 / 329 - welcome back to reality VM :D
Ha, I just added a screenshot in the post above yours, it is almost identical to yours except times and yours is a lil better. I've never seen speeds that fast where I am.

OK guys, I have finally successfully built a working custom kernel that seems to be working fine so far. I need a few people to test it out before I put it out to the public. I have it running on my dev phone now and am testing the OC abilities. I changed the MTU so I need to know if that was what was making the teather not work properly, cause my 3G sucks. And as soon as this is confirmed I can add it to the U9000 ROM also. I basically added a bunch of support for devices and filesystems along with OC and the MTU change. This is my first kernel so bear with me. Give me a shout if you want to test it out.

EDIT: This is not for the U9000 ROM but I am making a boot.img for that as well.

I could not for the life of me get the voicemail fix to work on this ROM. I followed the instructions exactly. I got rid of this ROM in favor of the CM7 build mainly because I could not get the voicemail to work. This is still a very nice ROM though.
All the voicemail fix does is manually set your voicemail number, your voicemail still works, the phone just dials *86 by default to access voicemail. If you dial your own number you will go to voicemail. It could be the file manager you are using, ES is a lil funny sometimes about doing root operations, I have root explorer on my SD card so that is what I use most of the time. I just recommended ES in the OP cause it is free and everybody should have access to it from the play store. If you used ES and it didn't work then try another file manager with root privilege capability. Hope this helps anybody having issues, only a handful of people have reported issues with not getting the VM fix to work, out of almost a thousand downloads since the fix was discovered.

Thanks everybody for the feedback.

Id love to test for you but my 3g is basically non existant where i am but if you still need to test for other reasons ill be happy to test

Just updated the second post with the original Ver7 kernel and a teaser for the custom kernel I built. If you want to test out the custom kernel just let me know. I have it running on both of my phones now. The only thing I have seen is that when I benchmark 2Ghz on my dev phone it reboots when the test starts but works fine on my phone. Some people have said stability at higher clock rates is phone specific, and that makes sense.

I'll test it for you as I am running this as for some reason in Sharp rom my camera lost focus and never came back. I know it is not a rom issue as my phone would do this stock too but it would always come back. So when i switched and camera focus ok I just got too lazy to flash back :) sure is nice to have rom choices!!!!:smokingsomb:

So you are running the U9000 ROM, right? I have made and uploaded the U9000 kernel but have not tested it yet. I'll load it up on my dev phone before I send you the link, just to be sure. I have also already posted the original kernels in the second post of both ROMs. I'll PM you in a bit. Thanks for helping out.

Hey guys I just put up the link for my custom kernel in the second post. It is not as refined as some of the great kernels for the Triumph but it is a start. Everybody testing along with myself have seen no ill effects, so I am releasing it. It does not fix tether as I hoped it would but there is a link to a script below that should fix tether.

I haven't got enough feedback to know if this script will work on the original kernel or not, so let me know how it goes. Also the 3G MTU will reset on reboot from what I have seen, just rerun the script.

Here is the script for anybody that wants to try this out. Just open it in root explorer and select execute. It doesn't seem to work from the SD card, I put it in system/etc/init.d folder and it worked.

I have a suggestion for the kernel.

Maybe you should limit the number of clock speed slots. I think it is 14 right now, if you reduce it down to 8, it may be more efficient and more manageable for guys that are overclocking and fiddling with core voltages.

Video and audio skip on playback if I have the audio going through my bluetooth headset. Wi-Fi is off and I am using MXPlayer. Never had this issue before.
I'm not sure what the problem could be, I need a few more details, it sounds like you have something hogging RAM while it is playing. I need to know what version, kernel, tweaks and type of file you were playing or if it is all of your videos. I don't use MXPlayer nor do I have a bluetooth headset to test with, so I can't help too much.
hey bsydes iinstalled the new kernel actually just rebooted 2 mins ago, i already noticed a huge performance boost, booted faster also, ill update if i find any issues
Def. Faster kernel, also i dunno if it has anything to do with the kernel but before calls inside my house would be choppy, now super clear inside with 1 bar 1x no bars 3g
I agree pages seem to load faster........ Maybe its the new governor or schedular, but it works great!
Thanks guys. I don't really know if it is the setting I changed for the RMNET_DATA_LEN or the other changes I made, but just with the kernel it seems my ping times decreases, and with the MTU set at 1500 it seems to be pretty stable, I'm gonna do some tests for packet loss and a few others. I just flashed the original kernel and the script seemed to work fine. Let me know how it works out for you guys.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Thanks, I'm not much of a phone overclocker, but what I have seen time and time again, is that each individual phone has it's limits top and bottom, so I wanted to include as many over as possible, so people could find their sweet spot. This wasn't just for overclocking, I saw something in the kernel source code that I thought could fix wifi tether, so I learned how to build kernels, and applied the overclocking and other things cause I was already there. I will refine this over time and posibly make one for Stock and other ROMs I'm working on, but for now we'll see how the changes work out, like battery and all that good stuff. Thank you for testing it out for me, I really appreciate it. Any feedback about the OC stuff that you see feel free to let me know. I have only tested it with no-frills, and like I said I don't really OC too much with the phone, so you guys would probably know better if I missed something.

There is still something going on with the 3G section in my phone. I was on the road again last night and had very spotty coverage while streaming Pandora. Phone kept pausing and buffering, even after I switched back to low-fi. I think I might go back to the stock ROM and see how it responds just to compare.

also I seem to get random reboots almost daily. Not sure what is going on.
