Introducing...

AliasAOKP v0.2

This is a ROM based off of dhacker's ICS-LEAK AOKP 7/25 build. There have been a few modifications.

The point of this ROM is to clean things up a bit. There are themes, improved animations, and performance options.

Changes in v0.1:
  • New GApps with Google Now
  • Editied backup scripts to save Google Now on each flash
  • 5 colored themes for the Theme Chooser (courtesy of Ricardo Cerqueira)
  • Removed the crappy Achromatic theme
  • Replaced Nova Launcher with Apex Launcher (personal preference, install what you want)
  • Removed Launcher2
  • New hosts file (winhelp202's July 3rd, 2012)
  • Added MyVerizon and LoginClientUI
  • Upgraded Play Store
  • Upgraded Superuser App
  • Faster rotation animations (best I can do about the rotation bug. It's a kernel/display problem)
  • Removed the ugly gradient in the system menus
  • Extra kernel modules (Change these under ROM Control > Performance)
  • More verbose installer to show you what's going on during flashing
  • Battery warnings at 10% and 5% instead of 15% and 4%
Changes in v0.2:
  • Fixed Performance settings app crash
  • Fixed typo in updater-script
  • Added correct Verizon Login APK
  • Slowed rotation speed

Install instructions:
  1. If coming from another ROM (Including the original AOKP), wipe data/factory reset and wipe /system.
  2. Install AliasAOKP_v0.1.zip.
  3. Install ICS-GApps-GNow-v6.zip (You MUST use this version of the GApps!).
  4. Reboot into your new OS!
If there is an updated version of this ROM, you will not need to reinstall the GApps/GNow. A modified version of dhacker's script will save it for you.

I flashed AliasAOKP 0.1 early this morning and now there's already a 0.2. Doh!

Alias 0.1 has been running great, though my battery life is significantly less than on SelfKANG ICS. Perhaps it just needs calibrated by charging the phone fully overnight.
Are these Alias builds going to be rolling out frequently? I only have time to flash one or two per week. ;)

I'll have to see how quickly I can fix issues. It's bound to be not as perfect as other builds as I can't build from source (broken manifests on github).

I have been using Alias v0.1 for a couple days. Here are my findings thus far:
- I like the color themes. Orange UI gives the phone a "Half Life" feel. :D
- Battery life is slightly less than SelfKANG, but nothing drastic
- UI is a bit less responsive, though that could be the default Apex launcher rather than Nova, which is default for SelfKANG. Haven't swapped launchers yet to test this.
- The phone seems to brick itself each night while charging on the dock. This hasn't happened with any other ROMs, so I don't think it's my handset. This is a major issue for me since the phone is my alarm clock. Its display is totally dark when I wake up. A battery pull is necessary to power the phone back on.

I will update to v0.2 and add to this list as time permits.

I'm sorry you're having these issues. I've been having problems with it myself, and so I've decided that I need to restart the project under a CM9 base. That'll let me make actual code changes instead of messing with a ROM that has already been pre-built.

I'm fairly certain that it's the new kernel modules/governors that are messing with the stability. The next version will be more thouroughly tested so I'm sure they aren't a detriment to the usage of the phone.

Again, sorry about this. I would seriously recommend moving back to another ROM until I can get something to a stable state. Kexec was just released for the Bionic, so I may wait for that as well.

No worries. I know the risks and I choose to load funky ROMs anyway.
Since you've decided to start from scratch I will hang out and wait for the announcement of your next ROM. :)
