[Verizon] [ROM] AOKP JB-MR1 Milestone 2 [4.2.2] (07.21.13) TORO

Why not try another rom? Do you not like JellyBean?

JellyBean is amazing, however I've gotten so used to the customization of AOKP I almost feel lost without it, particularly the toggles. I've just gotten spoiled with being able to pull down the notification bar and turn my data/wifi/4g/etc, off. I used LiquidSmooth JB and Bugless Beast for a while but again, I missed the customization.

Not to mention it seems that every JB ROM's MMS is broken.

There are apps in the play store that allow you to have notification toggles actually. My favorite is MoreQuicklyPanel.

MMS worked fine for me on every Jelly Bean rom I ran o_O

Yea I had one but the toggles showed up as icons on the notification bar. You could make them invisible but then it moved all the notifications over and it just sort of bugged me, I'm a bit OCD about that. I'll try out that one though and see how I like it.

As far as MMS, on both roms I've run (BB, and AOKP) my MMS was fine, as long as data was on. If someone sent me an MMS while data was off it would start trying to download and never could download it even if I turned data on so I couldn't retrieve the messages.

You should try XenonHD. They have most of the customizations as AOKP, and are adding more every build.

That'll be next on my list. I just flash JBSourcery, looks pretty good and has toggles so we'll see how it goes lol.

Both Xenon and JBSourcery are solid. I went from Xenon9 to JBSourcery and now to Xenon10 so I think it's safe to say that the devs we have available to us making all these ROMs (including AOKP, Liquid, BAMF, Bugless, etc...) are the best around

So is build 2 coming out anytime soon?

I have looked all over Twitter and on rootz wiki and I have no indication of an eta for build 2. The second link in the op will get you to a thread which has updated nightlies of build 1, which contain merges from the gerit since build 1.

So let me break it down. It used to be that we would get a build every 7-14 days, which would precede a milestone. Now we have a build, the nightlies between that build and the next, more builds and nightlies in between, then milestones (which we've, of course, not yet had for jelly bean aokp).

My OP revamp may take a couple days as these nightlies, builds and eventual milestones are adding more work. I hope that helps.

What I always love about AOKP is all of the stock features ALWAYS work for me...sometimes some of the tweaks don't (I.e. weather is borked for me for some unknown reason) but that doesn't alter my decision to run it as my daily driver.

P.S. Yeah, to those of you who know me, Play Movies doesn't work either but in Team Kang's defense it doesn't work on most custom ROMs; only one I've seen working is CM10

I'm going back to xenon. Very solid ROM with almost as much customization options as aokp. Definitely has the toggles and color options too.

The reason I'm switching back is b/c of the random reboot boot loops. At times, if I change batteries and turn on the phone. It will get stuck at the Google screen. even after repeated battery pulls it would still lock at that screen. Gets very annoying when ur used to a solid rom.

Just installed the build 1 version and love it. I was coming off M6 (ICS) so I am very happy.

Like many others, my reboot also hangs at the Google logo screen for a couple minutes before moving on to the boot animation. It works well but I change batteries regularly and this could be a potential problem.

Any suggestions on how to fix? I did a clean install with the updated JB Bootloader (wipe data/factory reset....wipe cache...format system....wipe dalvik....flash rom....flash gapps).

I'm not sure which JB ROMs don't have that problem...I ran both JellyBelly and CM10 and they did the same. It is very annoying though. The surefire fix that I found is to wipe cache and dalvik cache before rebooting. So for battery swapping, take out the old and put in the new, hold power and the volume buttons, boot in to recovery, wipe cache and dalvik, reboot, and you should boot without the hang. The one disadvantage to this is that it will go through the Android Is Optimizing thing, probably what you're used to seeing after flashing a ROM. So if you have lots of apps and that Android Is Optimizing thing usually takes you a long time, then this solution might not help ya much; it might be just as long as waiting at the Google screen. For me though, the Google screen has hung, at times, for a good 10 minutes, so it definitely works out timewise for me.

How's battery life for everyone? I'm not getting all that great times, about 9hrs of up time on 3G with franco kernel M5. Also on this JB ROM auto brightness doesn't seem to work well. I've noticed on JellyBelly and Bugless Beast that it works (surprisingly)

My phone has mainly been idle and on wi-fi, so that can explain the battery life im getting :D

However, I have seen better battery life than you've experience while on 3G/4G (I'm using leankernel). I just made sure to have a full charge, wipe dalvik and battery stats after flashing the kernel.

Seems good although with light use as Phone Idle is the highest there. :p

Say, what theme are you running? Noticed the white icons in the upper right. ;)

Thanks.

Anyone have a kernel recommendation for speeds and smoothness as good as stock kernel? Faux is good for battery, but not for smoothness. Battery isn't so important for me, being that I have the 3800mAh battery. Smoothness as good as stock JB is what I'm looking for

lean kernel has always agreed with my phone, i'm on exp3 230

i've seen people rave about trinity, i tried it and didn't fare too well

franco is usually pretty solid

probably one of those things you'll have to test a few out and see
