After awhile the phone crashes when you try to copy or paste text from anywhere.

There are a number of threads that talk about a root fix or a complete phone reset fix. But there is no way to fix it without rooting or re-setting the phone.

Do Samsung know about this fault?

It is getting very frustrating not being able to copy and paste.

I've never had this problem. Could you tell me what happens when you try to copy and paste text? Thanks!

If you're signed into a Google account before you restore, all of your apps will automatically restore once you sign back into the same Google account.

This is what I did:

- Copied/pasted the contents of my internal memory onto my PC.
- Factory reset the phone
- Copied/pasted internal memory back onto phone
- Rebooted and logged back into Google account

Good as new, and copy&paste worked again.

If you're not logged into a Google account, you'll need to back up your contacts, calendar etc. to internal memory, SIM or SD card before resetting.

When you try to copy the phone crashes. And the clipboard doesn't show up at all.

These are some of the threads on this forum:

http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s3/575730-copy-paste-doesnt-work-in-browsers.html

There are loads of threads on other forums too: but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link them.

Thanks for the reply.

I hate having to back up my data/text messages and having to re-add and re-sync all my data. I'm on windows 7 and I lose connectivity when connected to the PC. And Kies is just a pain. It would take far too much time to do all of that.

I don't want to root either I rooted my S2 and I couldn't receive updates after that and forgot how I even rooted it or how to un-root it.

Just will have to see if the new Samsung update will fix this issue otherwise might have to do them steps you have recommend.

Thanks again for the reply.

It takes 10-15 minutes (max) to complete the steps in my post, would be even quicker if you didn't have as much as me on the internal storage :p The backing up part takes the longest.

Regarding whether Samsung knows about the issue is, Yes! I've been complaining to Support & U.S. Mobile on Twitter for days & all they can come up with is that we'll pass it along to our development team. :)

I will never root my phone & I'm not ready to go to the trouble of performing a Factory Reset (have been there, done that before) until I can get to the root cause of the issue given that I've not had an OTA update, or any other, to my phone since last July!

It seems your the only other person who doesn't want to root thier phone or do a re-set. Heck even after a re set the copy and paste feature can stop working again.

Good job samsung know about the fault hopefully the next update will fix the problem.

These are the kind of little niggles that turn people to apple. Samsung should have this nailed down.

No problem. Bottom line, & I don't care about all of the accolades on Twitter for them, but IMHO Samsung has one of the worst customer/technical support units that I've ever dealt with.

I've cleared the cache and I know people have fixed the fault by resetting the phone: but I've herd it can come back.

Plus I've got too much stuff on my phone to reset it.

Hoping the new Samsung update fixes it.

I had this problem not more than a month after purchasing my Galaxy SIII. After researching it, I bit the bullet and did a factory reset which did solve the problem...for a whole two weeks. They really need to sort this out because it is completely unreasonable to have to backup and reset your top-of-the-range smartphone regularly to be able to copy/paste!!!
What is even more disconcerting is that I had the problem on ICS 4.0.4 and I upgraded to Jelly Bean 4.1.1 yesterday and still have the problem!
I have also tried clearing the cache from Recovery Mode. There is no permanent fix unless you root your phone which I am now sorely tempted to do!
