Help GPS fix needed

Ok, this phone has been great for the most part but today I found its first flaw. The gps is terrible! I just recently started using it's gps for geocaching and the "indicator" (blue arrow) jumps all over the place! Sometimes it jumps 50 yards away or more! I got home and zoomed in on my location on both my 3D and old Optimus V and the while the indicator is perfectly still on the OV, it's constantly moving on the 3D. Could anyone else see if their GPS is doing this, or suggest a fix?

Update: I found this patch at xda that I will try later tonight. I will post results. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1325033

Update 2: Installed the "Google Specific No-SSL v3.1" and my indicator actually looks like it is standing still. However, I have not done any amount of testing near enough to verify this problem as fixed. As soon as I can confirm this I will repost this as a fix.

As everyone else has mentioned, gps locks with this phone are virtually instantaneous. I would perform a factory reset and if that doesn't work it might be time for a replacement. I doubt that rooting and ROMing will help you much if you're having this much trouble stock. Unlike the Triumph where custom roms helped somewhat with the issue, none of the roms available for this phone address this because it's not an issue.

Actually found some threads around where people were saying the same thing. It's not just out in the woods, I tested it at home over wifi and it showed my marker jumping around (by 20ft or so). Also, when I exit maps and come back in I get an instant lock but often its 100-200 yards away then there is a short delay(5-10secs) before it finds my location. Can anyone zoom into their blue indicator and tell me if it "slides around at all" when your not moving? I'm also on midnight and did a full wipe before installing.

Just tried this... Sitting still inside my house, WiFi and GPS + A-GPS turned on. I zoomed in all the way and my marker does not move at all. It does show that I'm in the back yard though, so it's about 20-30 feet off.

Ok, just force closed Maps and restarted it, now it is spot on. Marker is still not moving, at any zoom level.

The patch has fixed the wandering arrow. Mine also shows me in the yard sometimes. What radio is everyone using?

The only problem I have with GPS, is that when I am on wifi it locks right one...but when I am on my data.....well let's just say this...I work at the airport in Vegas...and it shows me on Maps all the way down the strip....it REALLY annoys me...but the blue marker icon doesn't move..it's just WHERE it's at is all off :(

**EDIT*** Ok, so as soon as I posted this...I reset my Maps application...and NOW it IS doing the same thing you were saying yours is doing...My blue marker will jump around and won't really stay in the same spot....help :(

Check out this thread. I reposted this in the all things root section after it was successful for me.

Let me know how it goes. Good luck! Also, download GPS essentials off the market and let me know your satellite count before and after the patch.

I'm just not tech savy enough I feel like...I think that if I tried to root my phone...I will end up messing it up and being screwed lol

lol I hear you on that man, I think everyone feels that way the first time. But if you follow the directions step by step it really isnt that bad. You would almost have to screw up on purpose to permanently brick this phone.

Here you go, someone just posted this http://androidforums.com/htc-evo-v-...ock-my-htc-evo-v-4g-help-guidance-please.html

Also, I don't believe you need s-off for the GPS fix so you would just have to root which is pretty easy to do.
