Once again im planning to buy a new phone to replace my S Advance. Do you recommend it to me? Ive seen some problems about dark spots. Is it out for all galaxy nexus phones or for selected ones? Is it better than galaxy s advance? Opinions and suggestions are open :) This will be my last replace phone replacing if i manage to decide and ill be depending on your opinions. Thanks! :))))))

I recommend the Google GSM Galaxy Nexus because:

  1. The USA version gets Android updates directly from Google before anyone else.
  2. No carrier bloatware, just pure Android.
  3. Not only do you have the ability to switch GSM mobile carriers should you get tired of them, but you get to take your phone with you.

IMHO, those reasons alone make the GSM version better than the LTE or CDMA version of the Galaxy Nexus. I had to dig deep into my savings to get the phone, and I haven't regretted it once. ;)

I just got my Nexus in August based upon a recommendation from my son who got his ahead of me. He is somewhat of a techie. This Google Nexus has the super AMOLED screen just like my Tab 7.7 and that is a plus. I may be a newbie to smart phones but I'm learning and hopefully on a steep learning curve. The camera is amazing. You should see the picture I took of my other son holding a large walleye last week. I can now access without wifi internet both of my bank accounts. Attempting to text using my work cell phone was a drag. It's so much simpler with this new phone. Mine is unlocked GSM.

Not just US version - this is true of all GSM nexuses.

Not just US version - this is true of all GSM nexuses.

Actually, this isn't true. It is true of all GSM Galaxy Nexus bought from the Play Store. It seems, however, that most GSM Nexus users outside the US buy the Nexus through their carrier, which means they have to wait for their carrier to release software updates (just like those with a CDMA Nexus). I suppose, however, that I should mention some load the yakju software version on their carrier phone, which then allows them to get updates directly from Google.

The way you can tell if you have a yakju/takju version of the Nexus, takju is the US version and yakju is the International version updated by Google, is in the Maps App under Settings>About>Device. All the other GSM versions (yakjuxw, jukjuux, jakjudv, jakjukr, etc.) are not updated by Google.

Let me add that I also recommend the Nexus, it is a great phone.

I highly recommend the galaxy nexus. I bought it in July direct from Google and I have had zero issues with it (display is perfect, etc).

The key benefit is you get a pure phone without the background cluttered with apps you will never use and you get updates first. I unboxed mine in July and got Jelly Bean as soon as i plugged it in. Others are crossing fingers and hoping to get Jelly Bean soon.

And with apps, I have not run into this nor do I know this, but I believe I will probably have fewer issues with apps overall since there it no bloatware on my phone to conflict with an app I get from the Play store.

Also, I have the security of dealing directly with google, who I know will stand behind a flagship product that was purchased from them directly.

So, yes there are devices with slightly bigger screens, slightly faster processors, etc and some of those things may be important to you. But overall, NOTHING wrong with this phone.
