Help Cannot install 2.2 - I see "E:signature verification failed"

Hi,

I've just come to install 2.2 on my T-Mobile HTC Wildfire but it's failing and I see "E:signature verification failed". I have rooted the phone in the past via UnrEVOked but reset it to factory settings (but the superuser icon still exists).

I am really unsure what to do. I don't care about root as long as I have 2.2 and I'm really worried my phone isn't going to be able to get 2.2 now!

I'd really appreciate help.

Thank you so much!

Welcome to the forums, mby.

Try this:

1) First reboot the phone, then go to Menu ->Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Menu button -> Filter -> All

2) Scroll down to "Checkin Service." Click "Clear data" and "Clear cache."

3) Reboot the device again and wait for the update notification to reappear. I'd also suggest being connected to WiFi to get a faster and more reliable download of the update.

Thank you so much! I'll try it right now.

I'm glad I found this forum to learn more about Android. It's a really interesting platform!

UPDATE:
Oh no! It didn't work. Because the update was already downloaded, would it be best to remove the update and re download it? It's downloaded and waiting to be installed at the moment.

Thanks for your time!

Just let it install. ;)

Hello,

I've tried that, and still get the same error :(

I see a yellow exclamation point first and then when I press a button on the phone I see "E:failed to verify whole-file signature" E:signature verification failed Installation aborted."

I would really like to get 2.2 on this phone for the Apps on the SD card feature and the new gmail! (and just to have an up-to-date phone)

Does anyone have any other suggestions :) ?

Hi again.

Using research on Google, I've turned off the signature verification in the Android software. Now, when I choose to go to "apply sdcard:update." I see an error saying "E:Can't open /sdcard/update.zip (No such file or directory) Installation aborted."

Is this signalling that the update is corrupted?

Update: Tried another microSD card and re downloaded the update and got the same issue. Is anyone else having this problem?

Also, how can I REMOVE the superuser privileges from the phone so it's like it was when I first got it?
