Does anyone regret switching from iPhone to Android?

Well site is called 'androidforums' so I guess most people that are members here are here because they do like android better. So I'm not sure how accurate this 'poll' is. But having said that, I have never really used an iphone but I do have to agree with Jamor. People will be a lot more interested in android because there is so much more that can be done in an android, if you are a bit more on the geekier side.

I know this is an android vs iphone but my husband used to be a hardcore blackberry (I do believe blackberry is also more limited) fan and he now has the galaxy s3.
He regrets not shifting to android sooner!

Nah I don't regret switching from IOS to Android. I was getting tired of IOS by the time the 4 came out a couple years back and wanted to change.

I remember when I got the I4, I was impressed with the retina display and the hardware but otherwise it was a really boring phone. At the same time I was really lusting over the HTC Evo 4G, which I switched over to. I took the I4 back to the Apple store and "genius" guy looked at me like I was crazy when I said I was jumping to Android.

Android has so much going for it right now, really more upside than IOS. Especially with Jellybean. I also own an Ipad 2, a 3rd gen Ipod touch and a Ipod classic so if I ever need an IOS fix I can just fire one of those up. I also own a Lenovo Thinkpad tablet that I tend to use more than the Ipad especially for work.

Just throwing this out there, but I wonder if there are any stats out there on how many IOS users switched over to Android vs. Android users switching over to IOS as far as mobile phones? Because I know a lot of people who were Iphone users and switched over to Android. I don't think I know anyone who is an Android user and switched over to IOS.

I'm new here and just got my Droid a week ago today (bought a used galaxy skyrocket and I LOVE IT) and Iam currently selling my iPhone. Few of my thoughts..... Apple is one of, if not largest companies in the world, and nothing worth a crap on their system is free. I know they have to make money but cmon- not even a few songs? And everything this new iPhone 5 is boasting to have, Droids have already had. I could ramble for a while but hers how I sum it up (its my opinion and yea I know everybody has one)- Apple cares more about getting richer above anything, Android cares more about their customers and making money at the same time. Just my .02 worth

Welcome! I know what you're saying, as an ex-iphone user as well I can tell you I get sticker shock whenever I walk into an Apple store and look at the prices. Apple prides itself as premium or "boutique" maker of hi-tech toys and charges premium prices for them.

Sony was the same way, as far as why they charged so much for their stuff. Their mindset is that they made premium, cutting edge products and we as the the consumer should pay a premium price for them.

Now that hasn't stopped Apple from selling millions of Iphone and Ipads, but for Sony they have slid back to the rest of the pack and no longer can justify the high price tags. Yeah they still make cool stuff like cameras and Playstations but are no longer the innovater as they once were.

I think that's a lesson that Apple needs to learn. Now that Android and even Microsoft are coming out with better and more innovative stuff, pretty soon the general public will eventually see that Apple can longer justify charging a premuim for their products.

It won't happen now, because Iphone and Ipad releases are treated like a national holiday here in the U.S. and other places around the world. But if Android can still out innovate Apple, their already tired message of "we did it first and we did it better" will not convince people to buy their products in droves as it does now.

Yup. I will have to say cause I would be lying otherwise- in my opinion....if you hold an iPhone and another in each hand the iPhone does have a sturdier feel to it and the quality of their product can't be denied. But that's about all I can give them. Those that have drank the apple coolaide have never once stopped to even consider if anything better is out there. They have been told its the best and they took it hook, line and sinker. Its almost like a brainwash and I was part of it. I actually talked to a lady yesterday that asked me what phone I had. She had an iPhone 4s and was shocked that my galaxy already had things that this new iPhone 5 was coming out with. They just assume that they are blazing the trail for the rest to follow. Its crazy and I didn't realize how bad it was til I escaped it

By the way, im not trying to change the subject of this thread but I have searched and can't find it (prob cause I don't know what I'm doing). Can y'all help me with 2 questions either by sending me a link to another thread or point me in the right direction. First....is there a way to do screen shots on my phone (galaxy skyrocket)? Second...is there app that you can get that'll enable you to use and see emoticons between iPhones and mine? Every search I've tried turns up no results but I'm sure there are threads on both subjects somewhere, no way I'm the only one that's asked those questions. Thanks y'all!!

Is there someone who can talk to me about photos? I was used to uploading first from my Nikon, and then from my blackberry. Because I'm older, I like the bigger screen of my Toshiba lap top for editing my photos; I can see better. Today I am wasting a beautiful september saturday fiddling around endlessly with trying to upload photos from an Android Galaxy llX to the Toshiba. We aren't expected to do all our photo doctoring on that tiny screen, are we?

I would suggest Dropbox, you can enable photosync. I have mine set to upload only on wifi, so as soon as I take a picture on my mobile and then am on wifi it uploads it to my dropbox account which syncs with my laptop. From there I can do my photo editing or upload them somewhere for others to view.

If you want to give it a try let me know and I can give you some more info about it and I have a link if you use for signing up we each get a bonus for our dropbox space.

Samsung.. Sometimes require a driver.. Go to Samsung website and look for a driver.

Then you should be able to connect it like a flash drive

Does the question count if you went from iOS on the iPad/iPod Touch to Android? If so, that would apply to me.

I bought an ipod touch purely as a music player. I find it interesting that lot's of people still hate itunes, as syncing ipods with itunes is a match made in heaven, & iphones have it too. There must be a learning curve with itunes that many people just won't undertake, instead settling on the very basic drag & drop, a la windows. I think itunes is the best thing since sliced bread, & am still waiting for google to come up with something that does the same thing (without them getting sued, lol).

But since owning an android, iOS seems a little childish to me.

I tried out a I-Phone, before I tried an android. The Android system more closely resembles using a computer, and seems more logical to me, so I bought Droid Razar's for my wife and I.

If you own a mac (pre Lion) then I'm sure you'd find them even more similar. Just a straight forward, logical, user friendly way to computing, that isn't windows. This it what makes me sad concerning iOS; I find it's UI rather childish, but have no such concerns using the mac, or indeed, android.

The thing with all apple products is they're designed as periphial devices for macs (sure, they work on PC too). This is not really the case with android, but they do still offer connectivity.

i convinced lots of my friends to switch to Android, no one has ever regretted that decision :)
Android forever

Same here. I have had a couple friends not take my advice when looking at new phones, they fell for Apple's marketing, then they did regret it when they wanted to use their phones to do the same things I could do on mine.

iTunes on Windows is NOT the same fluid experience as one gets on a Mac. The coding is a bloated mess. It takes forever to launch then refuses to play nice with external HDDs.

My problem was having a large music library before I installed iTunes. I've been cataloging music for over a decade and had everything organized by folders. It was all kept in its own My Music folder, which I moved to a secondary HDD and copied on externals for backup. (Each of my computers had the same music library installed.)

Enter iTunes where it wanted me to import the entire library into an iTunes Media Folder. Ok, so first figured out how to tell it to just find my library. But then I'd open the program and it would forget the entire library file and make me import it again.

Next I make the mistake of letting it "organize my files". Not only was it moving my mp3's over to iTunes Media it was RENAMING them! And not good names too. No, it gave them truncated versions of my files with bitrate and other unnecessary data. Forget about doing any ID3 Tag editing. Not only was iTunes unable to read my pre-existing tags it frequently deleted what was there. I ended up with tons of untitled.mp3 files. To add insult to injury, any time I made an ID3 correction, iTunes DUPLICATED the file. My library suddenly doubled in size maxing out the storage capability of my 32GB iPad.

Buying iTunes Video was the worst mistake I ever made. It just grew my media library even bigger. So big, I had to transfer the library off the laptop internal HDD because it didn't fit.

And if I wanted to just load a couple books or movies on my iPad, I had to give iTunes a full half hour to synchronize the entire freaking library!

One day I spent several hours trying to recover my music library and fix the ID3 tags only to have it forget twice. Then be told plugging in my iPad meant it would now erase everything on the device and redownload every freaking file, even though it was 3x the iPad's storage capacity.

I got so mad I just deleted iTunes. Then I launched Windows Media Player expecting I'd spend an hour importing the database. Didn't have to. Unlike iTunes &%$^?, Windows actually knew where my music library was and how it was organized.

I downloaded Google's Music Manager and told it where to find the library. Now it syncs automatically in the background and gives me remote access to ALL my files. I don't have to do anything.

So no "learning curve" missed. iTunes for Windows is just a horrible piece of software that shows off the worst of iOS. Fortunately most Mac users are protected from seeing the mess it creates.

Not the iPhone 5. I went into the local Apple Store to compare it to my S3 this week. I was surprised by how tiny and cheap the iPhone felt. It had no heft to it. Very hollow and far too small for my hands. Felt more like a child's toy to me.

In the past, I'd play with an iPhone and a part of me would want it. But I came away with absolutely no desire.

Not having a back button to easily pop over to the most recent screen or app was downright annoying. I'd forgotten how much a despise that iOS interface. The App Drawer (sorry Home Screen) alone seems so juvenile.

Only reason I can see people wanting an iPhone these days are for the amount of aftermarket accessories. Nice sparkly Hello Kitty cases out there.

Apple better figure out how to innovate very soon or they will find themselves like the High School Prom Queen dateless and forgotten in college.
