Hello,

Last week my Galaxy SIII accidentally fell in the toilet:dong:

Since then he recovers pretty much all of his fonctions, the only problem I have is when it comes to recharge it.
When I plug the charger in when the cellphone is turn on, nothing happen. The cellphone doesn't seems to recognize that the charger is plug in. Then if I restart it and let the charger plug in at the same time, when it restarted the charger seems to be recognize and I'm able to recharge it.
Do you think I need to change the usb port?or maybe it's just a matter of software?
Do you think that a factory reset will do the trick?

I'm open to any suggestion, I only have this cellphone for a month and a half and can not afford another one right now, especially if I have to pay full price.

Thanks in advance for your help.

It sounds to me like it's most likely solely physical. Water is a mobile device's worst enemy.

You can try a factory reset and see what happens. If that doesn't work and you are confident in changing out the port, go for it. If that doesn't work then it's most likely going to have to be replaced.

Do you have TEP (total equipment protection) via Sprint/Asurion? If you do, file a claim with Asurion (it's pointless calling Sprint to file a claim because they will just tell you to cal Asurion) and see if you can get it replaced.

Unfortunately I don't have any kind of protection plan, I wish I had one.
I think I'm going to reset my S3 and see what happen, hopefully it will do the trick and I will not have to change the port.

Just a question before I try to do the reset, do I "risk" anything?I mean, my cellphone will be working just fine after that, I will just have to reinstall every apps I have before?right?

You risk absolutely nothing. Factory reset puts it back to what you would've gotten when you just bought the phone and took it out of the box. If you're rooted it will actually keep root as well. I've done it so many times and never lost root. (Flash-o-holic over here  )

I'm going to the repair shop tonight, I hope they will be able to find the problem and fix it.

Since you don't have insurance, you're going to have to pay a minimum of $35 if they can fix your issue. And at the time of repair you're actually able to add insurance (per Sprint policy).

I may have left my old job but I still remember some things, lol.

The shop I left my S3 in just left a voicemail on my husband cellphone and told him that they couldn't fix it...they didn't tell why...I'm soooo disappointed...
I don't understand how my cellphone could work just when I put a battery in (because I've bought a new battery+a charger) and that they couldn't find what was wrong and fix it!
Now I'm left without cellphone beside my tiny and pretty useless prepaid...:(

I just had my S3 back and now it doesn't work at all, they said it just died while they attempted to repair it...:(
Now I'm stuck with this cellphone who doesn't work and not a lot of choice beside spend $700 to have a new one or just paying my sprint family plan for 24 month without even having a cellphone...I really should have take the insurance!
