Samsung GS3 overtakes iPhone as top seller

If the data is accurate. The filler piece mentioned that perhaps as many people waited to purchase the iP5 rather than the 4S, so I am not sure how that affects the data.

Did Samesong sell as many Galaxy S phones as Apple sold iPhone 5'?
It's really an anomaly because the iPhone 5 launched late in the third quarter and most people were probably waiting for it to come out. Crapple is expected to regain the lead in the fourth quarter, I was just having fun with it.

All I know is that 2 of my 3 friends (one of whom had an iPhone, all of whom have ipads) who were in the market for an iPhone 5 saw my GS3 and decided to jump on board. Now we can do the snazzy bump thing and make our iPhone 5 toting friend feel left out. Good times.
Ooh, phone bumping. Maybe you can make it on this show lol.

If that first snippet were true, then why does the 4S still sell now that the iP5 is released? Granted, there is still some availability issues. But the 4S is still selling strong. So I don't buy the whole 'waiting for iP5' as an excuse. Sure, some of the people who may have bought 4Ses may have waited for iP5s instead. But that number appears to be few. I imagine that a large number, if not 75% or more, of iPhone 5 purchasers already owned a 4S or just are ending their 2 year contract with an iPhone 4. If that is true, that most of the iPhone 5 customers are simply upgrading from a 4 or 4S, then the 'wait' excuse is invalid.

I know a person who bought an iPhone 4S a week before pre-orders for the iP5 started.

I asked her "You know the iP5 is coming out soon, right?"

She said: "I don't care. I just want an iPhone. This one is available now and I don't feel like dealing with everything to get an iP5."

I imagine she's not the only one.

I also fail to see the reason behind people (who are not employed by Apple) justifying Apple's slacking sales figures. The only person who should have to be doing that is Tim Cook (and maybe whoever is the Apple CFO) to the stake and share holders. I like my GS3 and couldn't care less if Samsung sells 50 of them or 50 million. If/when the iPhone 5 overtakes it in sales, I won't care. My device won't work any better or worse for it. Does the fact that Apple failed to sell as many iPhone 4Ses as Samsung sold Galaxy S3s suddenly make the 4S not usable?

I think there is a very important issue to number of sales..

If only a small number of a model is sold.. The less chance a maker will keep support for the phone

And less offerings from 3rd party assesories
