Geniatech Enjoy TV

Check out this build of XBMC..
Working for me with HW acceleration, using MXplayer..

http://www.xbmchub.com/blog/2013/01...-user-release-of-xbmc-for-android-in-seconds/

Also I am on a ATV3000 running the latest pivios M1 Android build.. Overclocked to 900mhz on Performance governor.. Running the best it ever has.

Thanks DG. It's interesting that they decided to use MXPlayer instead of building their own internal player. I guess they figure why re-invent the wheel. MXPlayer did a great job of being device agnostic and simply plays on anything. I've personally been trying to create a player that is this diverse using ffmpeg but without much luck!

Hi everyone im new here, and altso new to forums, this is the first forum i have ever joined, so sorry if i post this in the wrong place, but anyway here is my question of the day! :)

I recently bought a "Intempo Evolve" android tv box, didn't pay much, got it for 35 usd, it has 3xusb, it has a rockchip 2918 1.2 ghz and 512mb ram, 4 gb flash memory, android 2.3.1

I have had some small troubles, it wont install the google play store, i have to download all the apps i want from mirror sites etc.
and the "app store" that came with it SUCKS bigtime its absolutley no usefull apps there what so ever.

so i wonderd if any of you guys have any tips/solutions for me.

installing a custom rom etc?

i am quite new to andoid, but i understand the most basic things, and will be ablet to do things with simple instructions.

thanks in advance!

sorry for my bad english heehehe :p

Edits:

VPN's on Pivos ICS..
Bit of feed back for you on Openvpn for Android by Arne Schwabe
I am using TCP port 443.. Working fine.. streaming youtube now from behind GCFW.
What I found on connect was..
On Ethernet - It will connect, but then it will turn off the Ethernet connection so the connection drops..
Turn on Wifi, Open the Openvpn connection again and it connects, Ethernet connection also shows up for a bit..
Drops off.. but connection is kept on Wifi..

So by using DroidVpn or OpenVpn for Android, or Via a VPN'ed connection on a laptop/USB-doggle from a desktop via "Connectfiy" your users can be using the Xios ICS with VPN's as is..

System enharncements:

I am using a few programs to make this build run sweet.. the following are the programs I using and its up to yourself to do some reading and work out which things to tweak.. but mines running as sweat as it ever has.. NO LAG or RE-DRAWS.... and Google Play store is not sticky anymore.. !!!:D
Also as a note I am running Livewall papers in the background "Ocean HD" so this is taking up 15mb of Ram.. but I do shut down any Google Play Store and Google services so that they are not chewing the fat..

Rescan Media ROOT
Disable and Kill the media scanner at boot.

Pimp My Rom -
Take your time with this one and work out what settings work for you..
I suggest you go in and use the Tools>Universal Init.d Support -- to Check that it is setup for you..
if it say negitive just hit the Activate button then test.. works for me..

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.androguide.pimp.my.rom&feature=search_result

Also, there is a Entropy Generator no 5.. you want to have this set so it is showing "4096 bits"
you can also use this program to check it it working..
Check Random Entropy
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...g.checkrandentropyavail&feature=search_result

If you want to know more head to this post on XDA:

So really now with the XAF Custom build of XBMC and this setup I am good to go..
Well.. good to sell it and upgrade to a Dual-core.. ;-)

Box is connected via hdmi straigth to our sound projector. Resolution 720. Firmware is latest. What else we can do?

well, it's all ok if we connect it to tv, but still we woud like to keep it connected to the sound projector...any ideas?

I can not put the image here, Android 4.2 it works! only beta version and so far working well.

Got a link?
Would be keen to give it a try..
I was following up on a CWM recovery and there is one that works for the M3 box's..
G-Box Official XBMC HQ | Topic: [UPDATED] Testers Needed

I have left a message on the board to see if it can be ported for the M1 box..
Would be great as this is giving me the shits not being able to play with the Crossbreeder Mod..

I could swear black and blue that there is a difference using a Entropy generator on this box's.. anyway as I havent been able too get the scripts to stick on boot.. I have gone the "Seeder.apk"
I seems to be sticking on boot.. just takes a few seconds to kick in..

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1987032

Here's a link to a good looking Remote program that is kicking round.. I tried it on mine but couldn't get it working.. I have got the server side "eHomeMediaCenter.apk"..not sure how to edit it to get the right settings in.. I will upload it later for others to play and see if you can get it going..

Hi to all
Sorry for my english.
I bought this tv box, a Maxell Multimedia box MMB 300
It seems like identical to geniatech atv 1000, but in system info the model is M3 media box board.
Maxell website doesn't support any firmware, but i would like to upgrade android version that is 2.3.
Which firmware do i install, that for M3 or that for M1?
Thanks in advance.

I would spend sometime reading the forums before you do anything.. but do not flash the wrong version as both are made for different systems and you could end up with a brick..

Here is the Geniatech site for thier M3 versions:

and here is the Pivos for thier M3 Versions..

Can any ATV1200 owners advise me on how to get into the recovery mode of the ATV1200 to force a firmware downgrade? I can apply the SPI img without problems, but I'd like to wipe and apply the update img?

To enter recovery mode, I can't seem to get the correct sequence of power off, hold reset button + hold console button, power on. Is there something I am missing?

Thanks

EDIT: Problem resolved.
The issue was that I had the 0.00B internal storage bug.
Symptoms: Changes to settings wouldn't survive after reboot, I couldn't boot to recovery mode to reflash.
Cause: I had stupidly tried to install Busybox so that the Hide Bar app would work. I accepted the normal install of Busybox to /system/bin which messed with loading the recovery partition. Presumably this error arose from Busybox already existing in /system/xbin in the update_MX_20130115.img thus causing the conflict.
Solution: Used QtADB_0.8.1_Windows to establish WiFi connection to box from PC and replaced recovery.img. Booted to recovery. Factory wipe and reset. Reflashed update_spi_MX_20130115.img and then update_MX_20130115.img. Established WiFi/WAN connection. Updated kernel online. Success!
Lessons learnt: don't install Busybox unless you know what you are doing; Busybox is already installed in /system/xbin in latest firmware.
Time spent trying to restore box: 8 hours research, 2 hours connected to the box, not to mention the hours in lost sleep due to fear of bricking the box!

i just ordered mygica atv1200 from mixeshop.com. was yours already rooted? i'm a rooter since tmobile g1 came out. i'm lurking and reading like crazy. looking to root mine when it arrives, but i don't see any detailed instructions, especially for this box. also, where is the best place for most recent firmware? thanks

so i now see after reading other forums that the atv1200 comes pre rooted. what kind of sorcery is this? that would be amazing if phones came rooted. i can follow directions well. been using adb etc. for rooting/flashing etc since g1 days. i just want a link to the most recent firmware for the atv1200. thanks. nm. i'm assuming this is the proper link. http://www.geniatech.com/news/mx-atv1200-atv520-android-4.1-20130115-upgrading-instruction.asp

great to know..
i have just got mine to so will be setting it up over the next few weeks..
it seems that the way they have setup root/busybox/superuser doesnt like normal type upgrades..
as even the M1 boxs do not react well to busybox upgrades, i found out the hardway too..

We might have start a new thread to handle these boxs.. as plenty of people will be getting them.
in fact as Geniatech is a oem manufacturer i have found a number of sites for them as the oem's have thier own dicated forums.
which is a good thing as over the coming months they will be in the hands of many good developers.

I've just bought an ATV1200 and would like to know how to format the box and install a fresh copy of android.

I'm quite new to android so I'm trying to find some help and/or instructions. (I did root my phone once - years ago - but it was an all-night battle and i have no idea how i did it :D

anyone able to give me a couple hints or point me in the righ direction on how to get these things rooted?

there are instructions on the geniatech website describing how to upgrade from one official firmware to another official firmware. but what if i want to:

1. stay on the latest official firmware but format and start from scratch or what if i want to:
2. try an unofficial firmware?

anyway here is he link in case it can help someone: http://www.geniatech.com/news/mx-atv1200-atv520-android-4.1-20130115-upgrading-instruction.asp

I'd love to be able to do that myself, but I don't think this will happen in a hurry since there is currently no custom recovery out there ala CWM or TWRP. I guess this is due to the lack of numbers of interested individuals as these boxes are still relatively uncommon. I have a Sumvision Cyclone Nano Slim+ and I believe that most of these boxes, maybe with some minor exceptions, come from Geniatech in China and are rebranded for people like Sumvsion and others.

The most up-to-date firmware is likely to come from Geniatech and you can find everything you need on their site. You just need to watch out for the correct CPU/chip combination to find your rebranded equivalent.

As already stated, we'd need an interested developer on say XDA to take on the challenge for a custom recovery then we could make Nandroid backups. To-date I justr can't find anything relating to it.
