Help Jelly Bean update - Dummies Guide

I made a school boy error of not turning off data/ signal (putting it on flight mode) whilst updating, Mrs kept texting/ messing me throughout the process and that ain't good so update wasn't succesful - although I brough my PC to work and using their SUPER-FAST broadband to update phone #dumbbalncerestored!

I noticed it's much quicker today than last night, plus I left my PC on for a while prior to updating so that anything that wants to use internet can get it's connectivity out of the way prior to my running KIES... so far, so good (clutching a piece of wood for extra luck)!

JB update for the GT-i9100 on CSC code...

SFR = FRANCE

There is also a further JB update from a previous JB release for CSC code...

OZS = TAIWAN

This takes it from LSH to the latest LSJ.

JB builds, to-date... LS4, LS8, MS1, MS5, MS8, MS9 LSD, LSE, LSF, LSH and LSJ. To check your, "Build number", go to...

Settings > About phone > Build number

Your build number is dictated by your CSC code unless you choose to flash a different firmware as per #1.7.

For more details and information on CSC codes and JB releases, see posts #1, #2 and #3.

Ironass,

I remember when you went through all of this with ICS, and I asked you then if you were going to be up to it when JB came around. LOL Well I guess you are, and thank you for it.

I've got a quick question. I updated via Odin when the pre-release came out last November, and I've not looked back since. JB has been wonderful, thanks for the help then.

With that pre-release however, I am now here.....

PDA:I9100XXLSJ
Phone: I9100XXLPX
CSC: Unknown
Build Info: Tue Nov 6 02:17:01 KST 2012

With that being said, I am completely aware that I have no CSC info because I'm still running the pre-release and any future updates would have to be via Odin.

I was an OJP (United Arab Emirates) CSC before. If the new OJP Firmware comes out, am I bound to it, or am I able to run other CSC's from this point on? My thinking is that minor bugs or issues have likely been worked out over the past 6 months. I'm obviously not concerned with warranty, but the last thing I want to do is brick a perfectly good phone. :D

As per my previous post, LSJ is the latest official firmware release from Samsung... it was just leaked 4 months early...

This takes it from LSH to the latest LSJ.

Correct! They would have to be via Odin anyway as you are not using your original CSC code firmware. See, #1.7.

I was an OJP (United Arab Emirates) CSC before. If the new OJP Firmware comes out, am I bound to it, or am I able to run other CSC's from this point on?

You can flash any firmware you like for your model of phone, using Odin.

hi guys
ever since i updated my sg s2 to jelly bean 4.1.2 my messaging app annoys and gives me a problem a lot
at first it runs fine but after few hours it runs crazy and says that i dont have a message history even if i have many and new messages. to make my messages appear i have to restart my phone so that it will display my old and new messaging threads. i tried to download other messaging apps from playstore hoping that the messages wont disappear but it still works like my messaging app. it runs crazy. i also tried to factory reset my phone but the problem still appears. i'm planning to downgrade my s2 and upgrade it again with another firmware from sammobile.com because i downloaded my firmware from a link in youtube that has a baseband version of XXLS8. i hope you guys can help me

Hi guys. Been waiting patiently for my JB update on a sim free GT-i9100 and it's run out now. Came here to find out what the delay is and found this guide but got stuck at instruction 1.1.

Entered #1234# on the pad and got an error message 'Connection problem or invalid MMI code', so I'm somewhat at a loss as to how to proceed. Any ideas?

EDIT

Please disregard this entire post owing to my failing eyesight and failure to spot the * at the beginning

Further EDIT

My code has not been bolded, so it looks as if I'll have to crank up the 'patience' button to 11 :mad:
