So, I am in the process of rooting a Galaxy Nexus...

I've unlocked the bootloader and supposedly flashed the Team win recovery on it. I also have the super user zip on the phone ready to flash, but when ever I try to boot into recovery I just get the the android on his back with the red triangle on top! I am pretty sure I did everything right with the cmd window so I can't figure out what the problem is.

Any help would be awesome!

It's been awhile since I unlocked my bootloader, but I remember after I unlocked it, I rebooted the phone. I think (and I stress think, I'm not sure) that the phone can overwrite the custom recovery with stock recovery if you still have the stock software running.

So once your bootloader is unlocked and you're booted back up, open a terminal command window with adb (this should all be explained in Urge's writeup sticky).

type:
adb reboot bootloader

Then it will boot into your bootloader with the android guy on the screen. Now you're in fastboot mode. In the same terminal window, type:

fastboot flash recovery filename.zip

Obviously instead of typing "filename.zip" you're supposed to type the name of your zip file for TWRP. Make sure you're using the most recent one from their website. After it flashes, you should be able to use your volume keys to toggle "reboot into recovery" from the bootloader and you should be good to go. From there you can flash the super user zip file.
