Root [ROM] MeanBean | Mods | Batt saver

Ok is it just my phone or is this Rom getting worse and worse? Seems like after every update something else don't work. My Google search does not work as of the update before the last I can go into the search app and type in a search and it just keeps loading and loading, if I go into the browser and do a search from there it works just fine. I have tried changing the "stickysetting" every which way and still the same I wiped caches and uninstalled and reinstalled the app. And also when I first go into the app after I type in 2-3 letters it closes the app and I have to reopen it...this happen about 5-6 updates ago and still does it. Please if somebody can help me out I would very thankful. Thanks in advance..

Does anyone know if I would have to do anything to remove the pre-installed version of Swype that came with this ROM before installing the Swype beta from the site? I can't stand the skin that came with the pre-installed version.

i think you can find it under /data/app. using a file manger like es file manger or root explorer and making sure you mount the file manager as r/w, you can just change the name of the swype.apk to swype.apk.bak. this way if you need it back for some reason you can always rename it. i would do this before you install the swype beta.

Been running 3.06 till just today, had to try me some BadSeed! :D

for the most part, it has been great. I did notice some lag in it being able to find 3g after being on wireless at first, but that was with new firmware too. finally got that straight by doing prl and profile update on wireless.

I never have had the issue with navigation, knock on wood. But Waze just up and quits on me lately. don't know what is up with that.

I use Better Battery stats, and for the majority of the time that I am not using my phone, it is in deep sleep. was gonna say it sleeps like a baby, but they have been known to keep me up half the night, so that didn't fit. :) That is with it set up for Performance, and a minor OC and can't remember if I have it overvolted or not.

Dirty flashed it most of the time too.

Good luck with your issues.

There hasn't been an update in a while. That isn't like Meanbeam. Does any one know if he has stopped working on it?

well mikeyxda just went from having one device to two that he is now trying to support. he just got the note 2 last week i believe so i think he is trying to get that device up to speed. so i would be patient now as he is doing his best to try and support both devices.

plus this may give you time to try other roms out. there are some pretty good aosp roms if you want to go away from sense. my suggestion is to try pacman. i love it.

Well it looks like mikey is finally done with the ltevo... I've been reading up on other roms and they all seem to have some pretty serious bugs in them. It's starting to look like Sprint/htc might have basically done in the device in the last update by giving us something the devs are having a hard time working with. The phone and the dev support both seem like they were better before the JB release.

What roms are the rest of you running now? Any issues?

I'm getting the bug for something different...

i have not been on sense for a long while now. if you want to move away from meanbean, then try either pacman or this one http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-lte...tk-4-2-2-unofficial-carbon-rom-4-10-13-a.html. i just flashed it last night and i love it so far. it is an aosp rom which has always given me the best battery life. just with the stock kernel, i'm at 8hrs with 87%!!!!!!!

there is plenty out there.....you were just spoiled with how awesome the dev community was for the og evo.

Yeah I know that feeling. On the OG Evo it seemed like we got a new ROM almost everyday! It was awesome, but a bit rough when you're a like me and have to flash every new ROM.

I guess I should restate that comment a little. There is a ton of stuff out there for this phone but it seems like when I read through the known issues most have deal breakers in them for me. It's almost like the last update was too hard to work with or something.

That and I think mikey had me spoiled too. Once he started on the eltevo I didn't have any reasons to try different roms. It was so good it made me lazy. lol

After poking around a little last night I did find a few I want to try. The sense 5 port seems really interesting.

I have tried several different roms like Viper and MeanBean after trying to flash MeanRom, which kept failing. I was only able to get Viper to flash properly and MeanBean 3.09 which I am currently running, and I keep getting the same problem with WiFi Tether with ALL of them. It always starts with errors, and yes, I am following the instructions for setup with my LTEVO. I do not know if the developers of WiFi Tether just haven't managed to get a hack in for the Evo LTE 3.16.651.3 OTA (which is what was on my phone when I purchased it), but in MeanBean it's the Treve Mod of WiFi Tether hack that was included, and it still doesn't work. I tried so many different variations in the setup I can't list them all, but my computer never picked anything up in available connections. Any advice?

Did yoy read post # 3 over at xda in the meanbean thread?

here is what mike is talking about:
mikeyxda said:
WiFi Tether: If you have problems with WiFi Tether, run it once and choose "Auto" configuration in the settings. Then reboot and it should fix the problems. Also, try using "open" (no security): a few people have reported problems using security (WEP, WPA) on Jelly Bean with this app.

good catch mikey.....i never knew that.
