Root [ROM] Angry Bean / CM 10.1 [build 08.08.13]

Does anyone have an issue with the 3G data connection sometimes dropping off?

For example, I was in the car today, and I pulled my phone out to look something up. I opened Chrome up, but it said I had no internet connection. The 3G indicator said I had 4 bars, but the indicator was grey. I fixed it by toggling 3G off/on, but is there a more permanent fix?

So I wiped System and reflashed gapps and now my phone is stuck on the white HTC screen booting. I had to restore a nandroid of MidnightROM to get it to boot.

System holds the rom, so when you wipe this you have to reflash the rom. If you don't you will just get the white htc screen like you did. After you flash the rom, you would then flash the gapps zip. As you found out, the gapps zip only contains the very base of google's app framework. All the goodies (gmail, maps, etc) have to be downloaded from the play store :)

Will wiping system remove any apps or other data? Is there a way to backup the current stuff and then restore later?

Potentially yes. Any applications that are installed on the system partition (ex. the VVM app) will be deleted. For the most part you probably wouldn't lose any other apps or data, but as sisu pointed out, its a good idea to just back everything up anyways.

Yeah, this happens to me most often when I have been connected to wifi for awhile. Like you did, I always have to toggle the 3g to get an actual connection back.

In general I have actually been a little disappointed with my signal strength and stability over the last couple of builds. With the latest change in RILs, I've actually noticed my signal is quite a bit less stable. I was hoping it would sort itself out and stabalize after a running the rom for a bit, but unfortunately it has not :/

Anyone having issues with this build randomly changing my ringer either completely off instead of vibrate? I will set it to vibrate, then check my phone later noticing a has missed calls and texts because its now on silent. Not sure if I am hitting something or whats going happening.

Mine don't seem to stick, either.

im on the latest build and i have terrible battery life with a 3500mah extended battery.
I only have the battery issue when the 3g is on and when it is the phone gets over 120 degrees and will not cool down. I have fairly good service in my area and i cannot continue to have this issues. Also i dont want to change the rom because this rom kicks ass and it the best rom i have ever used for the evo. any help is appriciated

That being said, data speeds are almost as fast as Sense ROMs...

Will make this quick as its late.

Added a bunch of Audio changes. Most came from the 20 or so hours of trying to get HDMI working. Still not working but less log errors and at least now is recognized by my TV when plugged in, still no picture though. Added some files in the “include/Linux” directory in the device files. They fixed a few things like for example the tilt in Temple Run is now dead on. Found them on a Korean site for another HTC device using an msm8660 Kernel and am very surprised how well they seem to be working out.

Also added the “HOTPLUG” CPU Governor. Find I get the best overall performance with HOTPLUG on my Kindle so pretty much just plucked the code from the Kindle Kernel but needs some testing with the Evo.

Overall made a decent amount of changes. I'm seeing some improvement in my daily use but never received a response when asked for testers so not much feedback on how they effect users using different setting configurations and apps.

P!

I set my first core to HOTPLUG but when I went to set my second it shut off the servings core and defaulted back to ONDEMAND.

What app are you using to set the different cores? I've used Kernel Tuner & Trickster Mod and both of them give me all sorts of problems like SOD's and random reboots.

Oh, and yeah, Hotplug isn't sticking for me either.

I have tried both Kernel Tuner and the ROM's built in performance screen under settings. Both force ONDEMAND.

Yeah that’s my bad, previous “init.qcomm.post.boot.sh” forced ondemand. Posted the new build without changing the script. Will post a new Rom with the correct script. Otherwise would hold off downloading if you plan on changing the Governor, sorry about that.

Is now fixed

Success! What do you recommend for governors for maximum battery yet optimum performance? Should both cores be set to HOTPLUG or just CPU0 and set CPU1 to something different?

Would just set it for both. The advantage is it controls both cores putting one to sleep when not needed and then waking it when needed. Pretty much is designed to handle multiple cores.

Still having it forced back to ondemand even after reflash from the zip on the website.

Odd, are you using an app to set the governor or using the cm performance settings? I haven't had any issues setting it in the performance settings the last few days and verifying with system tuner that its actually set. That is until last night when I ended up posting a build I made to test the stock init.qcom.post.boot.sh. Posting Roms at 1am apparently not a good idea. Otherwise haven't had any issues since putting back the old script.

there was a little mention of it earlier, but anyone know why the AOSP helper from Juice defender isn't compatible with this ROM? OR if that's fixable on the user side?

Not sure, never worked on any of the CM Roms for my Triumph or Kindle and the Kindle is an officially supported device.
