What was deleted? I'm desperate to know, this place is desolate, give me something here!

Sorry guys... I had posted a link to this article... but then figured it wasn't really a big deal so I deleted my post... I just was curious if others thought maybe HTC was a sinking ship and that our device will never see an update to Android JB or any other software update for that matter...

I feel certain Verizon is the reason we have not been updated and not HTC. Baking in the Verizon apps and releasing a new update is risky for the big red V. For a phone with a relatively small number of sales I guess I can see why they're skipping us.

I like HTC's product and was surprised to see how unpopular they became (at least according to news articles). When it came out Samsung hired college kids to badmouth HTC, it was a real "Ah-ha" moment for me.

So just curious -- what is the next phone everyone is considering? I'm thinking of the Galaxy S4 or HTC One. Probably will not be the One since the battery is sealed inside. I'd like the Google edition S4, but I don't think Verizon will carry a vanilla variety.

I'm really thinking the phone I have now is as competent and complicated as I want to spend time with. The og incredible had hit a wall with the low space issue and 3g limitations. A touch screen tablet or laptop combo is where I go next, after all it is a phone /camera /pocket computer/alarm/note taker/etc, and it's kinda bossy, if you know what I mean. Lol

Oh yeah, and I like how this phone looks.

I have zero urge at all to go get a new phone. For me phone technology has hit a brick wall. S4, look away and the phone pauses, or hover your finger and the text bubbles up...? Sure maybe the screen is a bit better resolution or the processor is a bit faster or the camera has a few more mega pixels, but none of that is a huge enough difference to make me even think of upgrading.

My next phone will be another Incredible 4G if this one dies or possibly another 4" phone (if there are any) when mine dies. Like a couple other said, I still like HTC products, and honestly I could careless really if this phone got JB.. It works for me just the way it is.

When I read the article and other HTC articles, I was wondering in the near future if we will even see new HTC products. I hope so...

The inc4g is the best smart phone I have ever owned. I had two salesmen in two separate stores spend a good bit of time trying to discourage me from buying it. They were pushing Motorola and Samsung down my throat. Seemed fishy to me.

This phone is terrible! bad build quality terrible battery life and no updates as soon as my contract is up im leaving verizon tossing this piece of shit in the ocean and getting a nexus. The sad part is i use my Nexus 7 98% of the time and barely even use this anymore. Bad decision on my part well you live and learn no more HTC EVER.

Everyone is allowed to voice their opinions here. What a great post. Must have received a lemon. My incredible on the other hand has me totally satisfied and really enjoy using it. Love it's unique styling too.

I'm very happy with the Dinc4. My salesperson also pushed bigger phones, and I just didn't want that. To me, the size is perfect, both processing and battery performance have been fine.

I just wish someone would write a root guide for the non-Android developer type person. I'm actually a web developer and still am lost with this phone. I need root!

There are several good methods now, including a mostly automated script. Not as simple as it was for the OG Dinc, but greatly improved from 6 months ago.

Thank you, but this is an example of what I'm talking about--links to massive pages of other links but no indication as to which is specified. What do you recommend I look at on that page?

the first set of links is titled rooting... there are 4 options listed. i think 2 of them are automated scripts - didn't have those back when i rooted mine. even then it was just a matter of reading and following the directions.

With several methods available, you can choose what is best for your situation. For me, I did not want to go though HTCDev and provide my serial number ("token"). This meant only DirtyRacun was my only option. It's not the easiest method if you do not know Linux. However, the instructions on unlimited's site are very good, as they were refined as more and more people rooted with that method. It is true s-off and doesn't involve HTC.

Facepalm is your only other s-off method. I personally can not say how easy it is, but it looks straightforward.

If you don't have the desire or time to learn how to use those methods then use one of mdmower's scripts to achieve root. These will be s-on which will be fine in most cases. However, you can not directly flash boots, nor can you flash a radio. Neither of which is really a big deal for most users.
