hey guys i just rooted my gs3 last week and flashed it with liquidsmooth 4.2.2. it is amazing i cant believe it took me this long to find out about rooting... anyway since i rooted my phone the signal strength has gone south. my wife has the same phone and when i compare hers to mine she has a -60 dBm vs. my -96 dBm.

So does rooting mess with the signal strength or did i maybe do some thing wrong? It sucks i cant even stream vids while im at work or connect to playstore ect... only at home on wifi.

They don't truely get a weaker signal, its mostly that stock based ROMS lie about signal strength.

Why? It makes the carrier look better

Remember, flashing ROMs doesn't touch your radios, only how they interact with it.

Ahhhh....that's right. I forgot about that

I haven't flashed an AOSP in over a year....on the OG EVO...and forgot about the 'true' signal strength.

But we arent talking "bars" of signal, the OP stated there was as much as a -36 dBm difference between the same phones at the same place.

That's precisely what Rx was getting at. The -dBm measurement on TW is inaccurate. TW tends to primarily measure voice signal as opposed to AOSP being more adjusted to data.

Lols. Sorry about the bad humour. The word Rom means Read Only Memory. Just as the name imply you simply can not ADD a rom. It must replace the existing one. On that note I don't think I can help unless you can provide more information. Like what version of LS are you on? How did you flash it? Whatsteps you took. And if you really want it fixed. Pm me and we'll get it solved.

OK I rooted my phone but never put any roms on it I got the liquid smooth rom from a link on youtube where I watched the review. after I downloaded it to my phone I did a factory reset, wiped cache vs davik cache. then installed the zip files from my SD card and it worked. when I first started to use it only the phone and text was working but no data or internet was working. so I recently replaced that rom with the synergy rom and now the internet data works but I have no calling or text messages

Okay so here's what I'd do. 1. Stop using stuff from YouTube. 2. Go to xda developers found here... Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III - xda-developers you'll find great roms and kernel's. As well as a heaping helpful of help. Once you find something you like here's what to do. 1. Get the rom and gapps if needed on sdcard. 2. Reboot into recovery. 3. Wipe (in order) davlic cache, factory wipe X2, wipe cache X2, then go to mounts and storage and format system X2 then data X2 then cache X2. Than go to install zip from... blah. This should give you a completely working phone. Just be sure to read in the roms post about any bugs. And have a beer you just kicked a**! Link to newest working Liquid Smooth Rom...
