Hi gurus
I want to root my samsung galaxy advance GT19070 for various reasons such as i) updating OS from gingerBread to JellyBean ii) Disable services.
I see 3 ways (A-C) posted in the web but not sure what's best. Lets review them & please help me with the questions.
A: At Odin/Download: Use "Pit" button and select "GT-I9070_EUR_XX_8G_20111220_KL6.pit" & Use "PDA" button and select "rootkernel.tar.md5".
Q-A1: What version of Odin should i use? (procedure suggest v1.83 but will v1.84 / v3.xx work?
Q-A2: It is stated, that the mobile is then rooted and can be reset to original firmware too using the safety net - Odin, is this correct?
B: At Odin/Download: i. At field "ID:COM" ("<ID:0/016> Added!!"), ii. put a check in front of "PDA" then click "PDA" browse for the downloaded the android jellybean 4.1.2 ROM file iii. click "Start"
Q-B1: This is the apparently the official way to upgrade to Jellybean from Samsung. Does it mean that the mobile is rooted.
C: At Stock recovery mode, select install update from external sdcard then select root.zip from sdcard (earlier copied - this file is small and contain a superuser.apk, Meta-INF, etc).
Q-C1: Can this really work? It is from Sarmistha Acharya posted in ibtimes.co.uk. It does not use Odin, is it not dangerous?
FINALLY, from a window based fileSystem perspective:
What does rooting mean? What really changed?
What does flashing new android OS mean? Does it mean that the old system is wiped out and replaced by a new?
Any caution advices MUCH appreciated.:dancing2:
