Hi all. My phone was acting weird, the internet browser was crashing every time I tried to start it, so I figured I'd just turn it off and charge it for the night. I DID NO HACKING/ROOTING/ANYTHING I KNOW OF. I have suspected it had a virus or something though, because it's been acting weird for awhile.

I wake up, try to turn on the phone and it vibrates, then shows me "Sony Xperia" or something, followed by "Android". Then after a few seconds it goes black and then repeats this forever. Until I pull out the battery (This is the first time it's looped like this, but not the first time I've needed to pull the battery. The other day application "PHONE" froze up.....)

Using a mac I tried VMware to emulate Windows and installed PC Companion as many threads have said, but a few problems happened.

1. No matter what, it was stuck on 12/12 mb for DOWNLOADING the MTP drivers, so after an hour I just quit it and skipped that step

2. My phone will be recognized for a few seconds, but then disconnect. Probably because it's turning on and off.

I tried the "hold back button then plug in USB cable" trick and the LED is green, so I think there's still hope for this phone.

I've seen other threads that said to use wotanserver something, but I went there and it's something that costs money as far as I could see. Maybe it's changed since the time it was posted.

I have a few files, pdfs and pictures on there I really want to retrieve, and a ton of contacts who'd be lost if I couldn't get em back. This is my only phone in the apt, so I really need it to work again soon or get another one...

Thanks!
One more thing, sometimes when making a call from call history, it disregards the choice I made and picks a random number from the past.

I really hope you can help, or at least get the things I need off of it.
