Maybe Google is at the exact location right now waiting to give away a Nexus 5? Or maybe that's where the announcement will take place? Or maybe..... bah, just announce the thing already Google so you can have my money... not like you need it with your stock going up like 12% already today.

Nexus 5 won't have a 3000 mAh battery version, claim insiders, just 16 GB and 32 GB ones

From the Italian folks that have been leaking info based on a prototype Nexus 5 with early builds of Android 4.4 KitKat comes the latest revelation on Google's elusive handset and its versions.

First off, their sources confirm there will be two versions of the phone, with 16 GB and 32 GB of storage, respectively. Google's test Play Store pages where the Nexus 5 was pictured with $349 price tag is probably for the variant with larger storage. No microSD card for expansion will be available, of course.

Second, as much as we've heard about two battery capacity versions - 2300 mAh and 3000 mAh - the source poured cold water on that rumor, and said both the 16 GB and the 32 GB unit will come with 2300 mAh, which sounds more logical.

Finally, as for the release date, he mentioned with 99% certainty it will be by the end of October, which we already know from numerous leaks, leaving 1% chance for the announcement to be put off for a later date if unforeseen circumstances arise.

I'm puzzled about all this talk about battery not being sufficient.

If it's packing 2300mAh along with all the optimizations that 4.4 will likely bring I'm still wondering about what the issue is.

The Moto X has been lauded for it's battery life, yet is only 2200mAh.

Why should we expect the Nexus 5 to be worse? Sure, I'd love 3000, but if I can get through my day on a charge then I'll be happy.

Moto X only has 1280x720 screen. Nexus 5 will have 1920x1080 screen, thus requiring more energy.

I'm not sure why so many people are concerned with it though, my Verizon Galaxy Nexus has a 1850 mAh battery and during normal light to moderate use I don't have any problems... Plus I have chargers everywhere.

Hold up! $349 for the 32 GB? That can't be right.

For me, battery life on my GSM Galaxy Nexus has been somewhat of an issue. There are times where I have traveled out of town and forgotten my charging cables/adapters. Some cases where I needed to use GPS (about an hour and a half on each way), some moderate use and it would die before getting back home.

So I think in that sense, that is why people are concerned. Not everyone has the exact same usage patterns; some more heavier than others and personal experiences have put battery capacity into concern.

For power users why don't you look into cases similar to this one? I have no idea how well they work or anything, but have seen them online a few times now. One of the major things I love about my Galaxy Nexus is the removable battery, when I was on vacation and new I would be away from a charger all day I'd just carry around my extra battery, I know that's not an option with this but I'm sure I could find some sort of battery/charger to carry around if I needed to.
