VM default configuration download failed

For my Virgin Mobile Samsung Galaxy 3 I keep getting an error message "VM default configuration download failed". The phone still works, but it is a huge annoyance. VM blamed it on a network issue. and has no timetable for a resolution. Even though I have had a different Galaxy 3 that has not expereienced the same issue.

I have tried a hard reboot
I have tried a factory default
I have tried loading it just with 3G on
I have tried reactivating the phone
I have tried updating the profile/PRL

Any ideas

Same issue here. After getting the OTA 4.3 update the phone was slightly sluggish so I did a factory reset and now can't download the bloatware update to get it over with. Tried wifi and 3G several times and get the error message within 2 seconds. Also updated profile and everything else in that menu.

I disabled notifications for mobileID just so it wouldn't annoy me, but I think it's causing sluggishness in the background even after the factory reset, so I want it to just do it already.

I should just root and freeze the bloat, but I'm not sure which rom is closest to stock and doesn't have any issues.

I now honestly wish the Moto G was available a couple months ago when I bought the s3. I like it, I just hate unnecessary things like this that are such time wasters.

I bought the phone on Sunday Dec 1st, received it on Tuesday from Virgin Mobile. Spent all sorts of time on Wed. Dec. 4th trying to get the phone fixed with VM Customer Service without any luck. They said it was a network issue and in a few days it might be fixed. It was such an annoyance and aggravation I decided to exercise my right of returning and requesting a new phone on Thursday morning. I think initially the rep was a little hesitant and wanted to troubleshoot again, but I refused.

Ironically I replaced my HTC Evo with a Samsung Galaxy I purchased maybe 2 weeks ago on Amazon for 328 USD with tax. It ran fine with no issues This past Sunday I saw the Samsung Galaxy for 50 USD cheaper on the VM site (268 USD with tax) so I returned my SGIII to Amazon and ordered the VM phone. If I had known all the hassle I would have had to endure for 50 USD savings I would have kept the SG III from Amazon :)

Well this is crap. I got the 4.3 update over night one night. The next day the Mobile ID app finally starts to work. It has messed up the Virgin Mobile apps like my account. And to top it of it installed as bunch of boost mobile stuff like a wallpaper and apps.

I'm going to be on the phone with them trying to figure out WTF is going on.

So I'm having an issue with this default as well. Got my s3 about a week ago, and was working great, except it said free activation kept failing. A few days after using my phone, i went to make a Samsung account just to get Rid of it up popping up at the top. As was getting stated, my phone went black, did a factory on its own erasing just about everything i had on it, and installed a bunch of crap. To make matters worse my 4glte stopped working.

I did a factory reset myself and have thus been stopping the default VM configuration manually, but it's only a matter of time before it gets through. What exactly is in it, is any of it useful or important, and if not can the useless programs be deleted or prevented altogether? Here's hoping someone who reads this can help me. Thanks

Uh-Oh..As I reported earlier the "new phone" VM sent me out did not have any configuration issues. However, it started to have signal programs. Called VM and it turned out they sent me a REFURBISHED phone for a brand new phone I bought on Dec 1st. I said that was nonsense and fortunately I think I was within the period to receive an RMA number where I will now return the phone and get the 268 I paid on Dec 1 as part of the Cyber Sale VM had advertised..

I will then buy the phone on Amazon for 310 as the price difference is worth knowing that I will have a new phone..I have been with VM now for 3 years. I have had to deal with there CS reps occasionally during these years and they are horrible, but on the other hand 35 USD a month is pretty good for a plan.
