Hello everyone!
I have a slight problem:
When I am talking to someone on the phone, they are constantly having trouble hearing me. They say sometimes I sound like I'm far away, sometimes I sound garbled, and sometimes my voice sounds robotic. I have no idea why this is happening. I followed the instructions exactly as written. Everything else works fine (3g, 4g, mms send/receive, root access).

I just tried flashing back to the mg2 modem to see if that would fix the issue, but once I reboot my phone I have no signal or data. When I go to "about device" under settings it tells me that my baseband version is "unknown". Also, when I go to "status" everything is unknown (Network, Signal Strength, Mobile Network Type, Service State, etc...) I tried updating Prl and Profile but a little message comes up saying something like "Session already in progress" (I don't remember exactly what it says because I already flashed back to the MK5 modem, and now everything works perfectly again).

Also, I think its worth mentioning that I'm running the deodexed version of this rom from this thread. I also have the Knox bootloader.

Try wiping cache, dalvik, then reflashing MK5 modem. When it boots, run ##72786# on your dialer. Let it run through. It'll reboot itself, activate, and other things. Once all that is completely done, update prl and profile. Also if you're using a case, take it off and make sure there's no debris, pocket lint, etc, blocking any of the sound ports. See if that helps. If not, I recommend a full wipe install, because if it doesn't help, then there's most likely some sort of app, mod, tweak, setting that's causing you issue. Good luck

Thanks for the reply! I'll definitely give those a try. Probably not tonight though, too busy. I'll most likely give them a try tomorrow and I'll report back whether or not it worked.

I wonder if anyone else is having that prolem it was happening to me at the store when I called my mom she said I sounded like I was far away also having data issues with 4G sending mms also I notice every time I reboot the phone I get headphone disconnected ??

Did you do a full wipe before installing? And update to MK5 modem? And run ##72786# upon initial boot, then run prl and profile update? Try those.

Well... as of right now, no luck. I wiped cache and dalvik, I reflashed the mk5 modem, I ran ##72786# on my dialer and I let it do its thing, but still no luck. I test called my house and my dad said it still sounds the same.

If I have time today I'll wipe everything clean and do a fresh install.

Yes I did . Just curious is this mk5 udate from virgin or boost ?

This particular rom was built using a VM OTA tar, but that won't matter, they are exactly the same.

Sorry to hear that man. Sounds like that's the next logical step. If that doesn't work, it might be the device or service. Good luck

Okay. So here's what I did:
I wiped the phone clean (wiped dalvik, cache, and did factory reset) and I reflashed everything. I still had the same problem, no one could hear me. Then I decided to flash the odexed version of this rom, still nothing. Then while I was testing out the call quality I decided to turn on the speakerphone and BAM! the other person could hear me fine, and whenever I turned the speakerphone off they couldn't hear me. Also, I don't think its my phone or my service causing these issues because before I flashed this rom everything was fine.

Is it safe to flash back to 4.1.2? Like if I downloaded Mopedryder's rom or punkmaxx's slim rom would it brick my phone. Im thinking Ill flash back to one of those roms and see if the problem goes away, because like I said, I've never had this issue before.

You should also go to the format menu and format system as well. A factory reset will wipe data but not system.

I always do everything from the format menu and wipe system, data, and cache in addition to wiping the dalvik cache in advanced menu.

Well, still no luck. I wiped system and everything else then I did a test call.

So would it be safe to flash Mopedryder's rom or punkmaxx's slim rom, or would it brick my phone?

You're good to go. If you have issues with those roms you might try an earlier modem to match the build such as the MG2 modem.

The MG2 modem is for the 4.2 MG2 rom and the 4.3 MK5 rom should be using the MK5 modem. I don't know the specifics but usually it's good to have a baseband that matches the rom.

I've tried them all on this build, and from what I've encountered, only MK5 modem will get you data on this build.

What recovery are you using? If your not using PhilZ, as recommended in the OP, then flash that with your current recovery, reboot to recovery(now PhilZ), and flash the SuperSu 1.8.0 with PhilZ. That should do the trick.

Try flashing it through Odin then. The tar version.

Yes, boot to dl mode, plug phone into computer, start Odin, uncheck auto reboot and f check(the one right beside auto reboot), click pda, find your tar, click start, when it passes, remove cable, battery, reboot to recovery, flash super su
