I am new to this forum and this is my first post. Just bought the Lenova IdeaTab S6000 Tablet. Never used one before, although I have a laptop and desktop computer, both using Windows 7. I have downloaded several instruction manuals for this Tablet, as the lack of instructions is a major let down with this item. Slowly getting to grips with it and have just installed memory card. Could anyone please tell me how to get my pictures to save to this card? I purchased the tablet initially to download e-books, which at the moment I have not got round to. Thank you to anyone who can ehlp m e

Do you want to save pictures on the memory card from the tablet to it or from your other devices?
The memory card needs to be formatted. You can do this on your PC or laptop easily. You can use FAT32 for this.My Lenovo Laptop has an SD card slot so I can just put my SD memory card into it and use it as a removable drive to format and copy stuff to and then put it in my phone but as the phone uses the small,"Micro SD" cards I insert the small memory card into a Micro SD adapter and then into the Laptop SD slot.

You can also interconnect devices using a USB cable but you need to make sure the USB drivers for your Lenovo/Win7 are installed. If separate USB drivers are needed they can usually be found at the Lenovo Support/Drivers site.

Recap/Example:
Slot SD card into Laptop/PC.
Format card to fat32
Copy whatever you like onto it.
Take card out and put in required device.

Caveat:
The Fat32 file system has a <4gig file size limit which means if you have a large video type file over 4 gigs you should use the NTFS file system or one that supports this large file size.As I've never tested NTFS on my Galaxy Ace I don't know if Google Android O/S supports it?

Thank you for your reply. I just purchased the Lenova IdeaTab S6000, also bought card 64mg. I have put the card into the slot on the tablet (dont know how to format it). I wish to save my pictures and books onto this card so that the memory built in does not get clogged up, pictures seem to take up so much space unless reduced in size. At the moment, any pictures taken are automatically saved to the tablet but I want to change this and have them saved to card. Is this possible? I am not technically minded re computer but have a laptop and desktop running win7. The operating system on the tablet is JellyBean, of which I have no knowledge. Thank you

Does either of your Windows devices have a slot for the memory card as this will be the easiest way for you to format that card on those devices.

If not you can buy a cheap USB SD card adapter off eBay/Amazon.

However you can use the Tablet to format the Card usually.

With the card in the device go to your settings and the SD card entry and you should see the option to format the SD card automatically.

Also download the pdf manual for your Lenovo as it should be covered in there as well,

http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/lenovo_s6000l_qsg_V1.0_en_20130910.pdf

To manipulate your files/pictures download and install the free version of ES file explorer from Google Play store as it's one of if not the best file explorer for Android systems,

Thanks for all who replied but I am no further forward. The card is not being recognised in Tablet but is recognised on desktop and laptop computer. Also, the only options I have on desktop to format this drive (shows as 62.4 gb) are: ex-fat and NTFS. I followed the instructions on tablet, which said to mount the card before removing it, no instructions followed. I then formatted the card on desktop (win7) using ex-fat. Having put card back in tablet, it is not recognised, still shows the message mount card. Sorry to trouble you all, thanks. The PDF manual doesnt show formatting of card for this device and is rather general information

Just been out and bought 8gb card. Stuck this in slot - in Settings it shows external SD card, total space 7.39gb. It would seem that this card is recognised but I have not formatted it. There is no option to do so on the tablet. Should I take it out of the tablet and format it on desktop computer or leave it alone?
Back to original message. All pictures taken are automatically stored on tabet. I would like them to be stored on the card or at least be able to transfer them somehow. Thank you

That depends on the camera app and device if that'll work or not.

Put the new 8GB in the laptop,"As-is" and copy files to it and place it back in the tablet and see if it works.

The 64Gb SD card may be faulty or un-formatted.You can download a formatting you PC if you don't want to use the windows system,

This one is free and good,
EaseUS Partition Master - Free Partition Magic alternative, Partition Manager Software for Windows PC and Server
or this one,
Partition Manager Server, server partition manager and partition magic server for Windows Server 2000/2003/2008. Server Partition software for Windows Server and None-Server partitions

If the 64GB card isn't being auto-mounted when inserted into the tablet then it's most likely faulty.

The IdeaTab S6000 is listed by Lenovo as supporting up to 64GB cards, so it should 'just work'. The standard format for 64GB cards is exFAT, so any device claiming to support this size of card should support that format.

As for saving photos to the card.... most devices use external storage by default if it is available. You could test this by inserting the known-good 8GB card, taking a photo, then seeing where it's stored. If the save location is still the internal memory there will be an option in the camera app's Settings menu to change this location.

Hope this helps.

I would like to thank everyone who tried to help me sort out my problems with this tablet. I finally gave in and took it back to the store where I purchased it. They tested it and told me it had major faults and would replace it. I was not happy with this and paid a little bit extra for a Windows 8 based tablet. This took me all of an hour to get up and running. Thank you once again for your help
