Ok, you guys have heard that beautiful update on this app. This makes me love the Moto X even more. It's a really useful feature for me... Sadly I would be selling my moto x soon. Nothing wrong with it but I feel like that stupid S5 is getting my attention.

Now, Google used to own Motorola but I like this app. Do you think that this app will stay only for the motorola users? Do you think Google will create a better one for other phones. It will be nice having this feature on flagship devices.

Motorola built it, I believe the patent for it probably went (or will go) with Motorola to Lenovo. Something to keep in mind is that Touchless Control requires the always-on listening core that's part of Motorola's X-8 architecture in some of their phones.

I'm not saying other phone makers won't try to do the same thing or a similar thing but the Motorola Touchless Control app will probably be a Moto-exclusive app (for now).

This app is too crazy I just have hope they expand this app to all android phones...

As I noted, there are some pre-requisites to utilize it and Motorola can (and will likely continue to) restrict the device support to their own devices. Google has no control over what Motorola does with the app. I suppose that doesn't preclude Google from developing their own version but to make it as good as Motorola's version they need to utilize device architecture like Motorola has (and has likely patented) with the X8 architecture.

Well I read an article just recently that snapdragon is working on 801 I think is called (I'm no expert in this area) but it said something about saving battery to have the functionality that the Moto X has (Always listening) to save battery...I might be wrong I'll edit this post so you guys give me your opinions about it.

I guess is for nexus but it can expand maybe??

Interesting info. One thing you still need to understand is that Motorola owns the app and controls the compatibility list. So, unless Google buys the app from Motorola or finds a way to build a similar app without infringing on Motorola's IP for it, they won't be building their own.

I doubt Motorola would enable compatibility for non-Motorola devices, it's an awesome selling point for their phones. Enabling it for other devices would strip the advantage from Motorola's devices.

I think someone could just make an app that does a similar thing without any issues tbh, im no legal dude though so i could be wrong, the concept just seems like something hard to patent. Unless having an always listening voice control app is patented then all thats needed is the hardware to support it :)

Well if anything google can take the patent if any...didn't they keeps the patents before selling the company to Lenovo? or whatever that Chinese company is called..

It be really nice because this would just make life easier honestly....

Love mymoto x because of this feature but I love other phones for the specs...
