HTC M8 accessories (discussion, reviews) -Read first post for review links!

I just got my M8 today. Obviously impressed with the build/design. I am using the CaseMate Sport Tough.
case-mate-tough-case-for-htc-one-m8-black-p43989-300.jpg

Keeps it well protected and maintains the slim profile.

What I would really need now is a desktop dock. I prefer using my smartphone as my night clock and alarm. I use the 'dock clock plus' app which I highly recommend and is very well reviewed by many. Perhaps because the device is so new there are not many accessories available yet? I have not come across many appealing options during my web searches.

As w/the M7,the M8 is capable of QI Wireless Charging,w/an aftermarket receiver tag (TYPE B) & your choice of QI Charging dock.

Got a TYPE B tag on the way:

Type B Micro USB Qi Wireless Universal Charger Pad Receiver Coil for Smartphone | eBay

& this case to hide it (THX SolApathy):

Amazon.com: SUPCASE All New HTC One M8 Case - Unicorn Beetle Premium Hybrid Protective Case for HTC One 2014 (Black/Black): Cell Phones & Accessories

ETA is 4/23/14,I'll post charge times w/this,expecting something in the 5 hr range for full charge, typical for wireless charging.

Bye bye dot view case. To quote the late great B B King "The Thrill is Gone". After having that flippin' flap case for three weeks I'm done with it. Just aquired six new cases off Amazon and went to Verizon and picked up an incipio dualpro black. The case i like the best is the crystal clear barely there from case-mate but it offers zero protection when laid face down. Would've preferred some sort of grippy lip to keep the screen off a tabletop and sliding around. But definitely a beautiful accessory. I like the incipio dualpro pro case for its overall protection and super slim feel. Quite satisfied with it. It will be great for work. Also accidentally ordered an incipio hardshell snap on case in gunmetal gray. Very similar to the barely there case in fit and feel but the case wraps the front a bit to offer a screen respite off tabletops, although still pretty slippery. Also received an amcase bumper case with a black rim and frosty clear back. It curls the front of the phone for surface protection and grips the surface well. Not the best fit around the edges though. Oh well it was only 3 bucks. The next case is a supcase Beetle case, very similar to the amcase i just described but MUCH higher quality. It will also be a nice work case. The remaining case, a red shield clear plastic snap together case. Its a sweet lookin case installed, but the mill marks from the manufacturer still showed out the back. Ruined the look for me. I tried to shave them down but didn't work. Its in the recycling can as i type. 9 dollars gone. Sorry about no paragraphs but this ain't English class.

Thanks for the quick reviews. I just bought the Case-mate Barely there clear case after reading this.

Got a dot view and while the concept is cool I'm not certain I'll keep it. Impossible for 1 handed use of any kind.

Tried that clear naked tough case on today at mall and liked it. May go that route or wait for more options.

Yeah, that case is made of almost a soft plastic. Unlike the hard plastic one I had for my M7 which looks horrible now because of all the scratches on it.

Been watching YouTube video reviews for most of the afternoon... Still not sure what to do. Will probably use the dot view for a week and decide if I'm keeping it after that it's definitely a two handed case.

I got the Otterbox Defender case and it only adds a little bit of bulk to the phone. I wasn't sure if the rubber outer shell would be a problem when slipping it into my pocket but it hasn't been. I like the clear hard plastic screen cover.

I love the thought they put behind the case, unfortunately for me it's just a gimmick and the cover just gets in the way. With all the 3rd party chat apps out there like whatsapp that are not compatible (yet) I just don't see the logic in getting one.......yet

I'd be happy with hangouts and Gmail as I don't really use 3rd party stuff. Case would be great if it had a clasp of some kind to hold it back when open or closed when in your pocket.

Contrary to what I believed to be true @ the time, the latest update to the GEAR FIT did not break compatibility/pairing.

MAJOR THX to XDA-DEVELOPER member aooga for his work on the project:

[GUIDE] Gear Fit on Non-Samsung Devices - xda-developers
[GUIDE] Using Samsung Gear Fit with Nexus 5 | Google Nexus 5 | xda-developers

I found that you need to update the firmware on the FIT by pairing w/a SAMSUNG Device that has the lateset GEAR FIT MANAGER app installed.
Once that is accomplished, simply side-load the current GEAR FIT MANAGER,pair up & enjoy.

OLD GEAR FIT MANAGER Version: 1.25.0325
NEW GEAR FIT MANAGER Version: 1.49.0409

OLD GEAR FIT SOFTWARE Version: R350XXU0ANCF
NEW GEAR FIT SOFTWARE Version: R350XXU0BND8

I went to my local BEST BUY and that is where I got my CaseMates. I have 2. One is the black Sport Tough, that I posted in a early reply and also got the Naked Tough from the Studio collection.
case-mate-tough-naked-case-for-htc-one-m8-clear-p43986-300.jpg

Both provide extra protection (they are 2 piece cases) while doing the best they can to protect the slim profile, which I like.
The translucent one that KOLIO posted looks nice as well. I'd probably get one in black or gun metal grey if they had. I used my black Sport Tough more than the Naked Tough.
I really like to change my cases regularly. Gives the impression you change device! ;-)

Now if I could only find a good dock. Sigh. I'm flabbergasted that HTC does not have an OEM one like their pals at Samsung do for their Galaxy device. C'mon HTC! Let's go!
