Help Trouble with Sound

Hello,

I have the LG Escape P870. After two or so years of abuse, something isn't working with the headphone jack. (I often throw it in my purse, and I also use it as an MP3 player when I work out, so I am surprise it even lasted this long.) I can only hear sound out of one earphone, the right one. When I put heavy pressure on the earphones in question I can suddenly hear sound out of both earbuds just fine. However as soon as the pressure leaves, the sound returns to just one ear.

I didn't want to purchase a new phone, and trying to find an inexpensive 32G MP3 player proved impossible. So I tried another route. I purchased a micro usb to headphone adapter for my phone. It fits just fine. However when I go to play my music it blasts through my speaker instead of my earphones. I assume my phone just isn't recognizing that I have earbuds in.

Is there any way to solve this issue without buying a new phone, a new mp3 player, or bluetooth headphones (simply because I find the sound quality lacking in most bluetooth devices) ? Perhaps there is some way to get my phone to recognize the adapter?

Before it is asked, since it's an easy troubleshoot, I have already tried carefully cleaning out any lint from the jack but this didn't do anything. I have also ruled out that it is my earphones, as I have tried multiple headsets on my phone and none work. I also tried the earphones in question on my laptop and they work just fine.

Replacing the earphone jack isn't an expensive repair. Otherwise, about your only out is a good set of Bluetooth earphones, and they'll probably cost as much as, or more than, replacing the earphone jack.

You might first try BTMono (it's free), but I don't know if it'll work on an adapter. Start BTMono, start the music app, then press ON on BTMono. (Use long press on the Home key to switch between apps.) It works to send non-phone (IOW multimedia) audio to Bluetooth devices that don't have a multimedia capability, but I don't know if it'll see this adapter as a Bluetooth device.
