Root HTC Desire HD - Crashed

you just need to run an ruu(factory software).

luckily,you are s-off,and superCIDed,so recovery,for once,shoud be easy(knocking on wooden desk ;))

just pick an ruu and run it. if you know your previous build number, you can try and find one close to it.

otherwise,i might suggest the unbranded sense 3.0 ruu,3.12.405.1

stock ruus can be found here: Shipped ROMs and here: FileFactory Folder View - Ace

holler if youh ave further questions :)

hi all... this is my problem...

i have a DHD which was rooted using AAHK about a year or so ago. i was running MIUI Rom 2.3.9 i think and wanted to update to the latest one. during the installation of update it loaded to the MIUI screen but never got past that point so i tried to get into recovery by pressing volume key and power key but cannot get into recovery.

so i thort mayb i can use a command promt option from the AAHK and accidently ran the root again. it seemed to run then got stuck on downgrade complete... starting new process... please be patient...

that hung there for a while so i got impatient and pulled the battery.... yip i pulled the battery...so i probably hard bricked the phone!!!

anyways... now the phone only starts up and hangs at the white screen with green HTC on it. wont go into recovery when pressing down power and volume keys.

i installed the android SDK tools and tried that but ADB wont recognise my device. its plugged in via usb, on and charged... im using windows 7. says device not found...

how can i get ABD to recognise that my device is connected.

i also used usbdeview and it says my device is connected as mass storage so i dont know what to do. ive checked the grivers and they say they working fine. should i delete all drivers and see if i plug the phone in if they will reload? im scared that if i delete them ill never get the phone to connect with ADB.

ok... so what are my options? if any?
or is my phone hard bricked and beyond all hope?

Believe me I've tried it all... volume down, power does nothing... battery out and back in fixes nothing... I've really tried everything...

take the battery out for several seconds(count to 20 or so),replace.

hold vol down, then power,as ral described. hold for several seconds, maybe even a couple minutes. hopefully if you hold it long enuff, you will get to hboot(white screen colored letters). if you have an sd card in the phone, you might try booting to hboot without it.

if you still cannot get to hboot, then there is unfortunately nothing we can do... you need to be in either fastboot or hboot to install an RUU as a .zip or a .exe file.

you can try adb devices after the phone has hung at the htc screen for a while. it is possible if adb debug was enabled in your previous rom, that the phone may be booting far enuff to have an adb daemon running. if its not getting past the spash screen, however this is unlikely :(

Hi I'm trying to root my Desire HD.

I had to downgrade it in order to use Ace Hack Kit.

Upon doing so, I attempted the hack but recieved the message:Radio Downgrade Failed: Either goldcard failed or usb connections not 100".

I've tried all the things mentioned in the thread. Here's the info I got:

From this (I may be wrong) I don't think I am S-off or superCIDed so I don't know what the next step I should take.

Please help guys!!

the aahk is no longer supported. youre on your own for official support,if you decide to continue.

having said that, make sure nothing is operating on the PC that can comuincate with the phone(htc sync, pda new, easy tether,i tunes, etc) and try a few different usb ports or cables. you can even try a different PC. in short, make sure the PC environment is as described in the effin manual.

you may need to use a different sd to make a gold card,or you can try and make one manually. http://androidforums.com/inspire-4g-all-things-root/696909-how-create-goldcard-emmc-devices.html

from your getvar all, seems the downgrade should flash without the goldcard, since you have cid HTC__001. id prolly suspect a usb cable/port/PC issue.

thre is a support thread for the newly released manual method here:
http://androidforums.com/desire-hd-...-s-off-simunlock-supercid-inspire-4g-dhd.html

and if you are 100% sure your phone SHIPPED with froyo, you can use this guide:
http://androidforums.com/inspire-4g...de-root-inspire-4g-desire-hd.html#post4515294

but you have to be sure- downgrading to a froyo hboot on a GB shipped device may leave you unrecoverably stranded

Right, awesome! this is good news!

I'm sure it was shipped with Froyo so I had a read of the guide and seems simple enough to follow (though I'll give it a try tomorrow). One thing however, the link for "FileFactory Folder View - Ace" is dead, so do you happen to have a working/another link?

Also, the phone came unbranded but from the list I can't tell which of the RUU's are the unbranded ones let alone the latest. Any help would be much appreciated. Sorry to sound like an idiot, I've only rooted nexus' and only attempted to root the DHD today so I'm not yet fully familiar with all the HTC stuff!

Thanks!!

EDIT: I have an HTC inspire and cant find a forum for it.
My phone goes into HBOOT mode whenever i turn it off. its been acting stange lately and gets stuck on vibrating mode whenever i adjust the volume.
This is the second time i've had this problem, the first time i plugged it in,hit reboot or whatever and it worked. This time it just wont come out of HBOOT mode. i think if i just install a new RUU or driver it would be fine. Only problem is, i am on a mac and cant open windows files. this is what it says

P.S if i hit simlock and factory reset the first time this issue happened what does it affect. i lost all of my contacts from my SIM and phone, anyway to get it back?

select fastboot from the hboot menu to get to fastboot mode. then post the results of this(xxx out your esn, meid, imie):
first download and install these drivers: revolutionary drivers (mirror)

then,download this small file:
mini-adb.zip

-unzip it,and place the unzipped folder onto the root of your C drive(not inside a folder)

-open a cmd window(with win 7,click start bubble, type "command" or "cmd" in hte search box)

-now change to your mini-adb directory(assuming you didnt chagne the name). type in the black cmd window that opened on your PC:
cd c:\mini-adb

-pull the battery in your phone for a few seconds. hold volume down, then power. hold them both until you see the white/colored writing hboot screen

-select "fastboot" from the hboot menu with the vol rocker/power button

-in your cmd window type:
fastboot devices

it should output your phones serial number. if so youre good to go. if not, youre apparently having a driver issue. i usually recomend these drivers from Revolutionary: modified htc drivers download and install the drivers(you should just have to run that file). afterwards, unplug your phone, plug it back in. make sure its in fastboot. as soon as you get a result from "fastboot devices" your ready to procede to the next step.

-in your cmd window, type(or copy/paste,is much easier):
fastboot getvar all

-copy the info that outputs here. right click in your cmd window, click mark, highlight it all in white. hit enter. paste the info here. it will help us know which ruu for you to run. :)

luckily, the att ruus are all available. the newest one is here:
Shipped ROMs

it may be that you can use an older one, however, depending on what the info you provide tells us. if you wish to run the ruu, place the phone into fastboot and run the utility.

if you have prollems getting the utility to run,you can download this version:
Shipped ROMs

rename it to PD98IMG and place it on the root of a FAT32 formatted sd card, then power the phone on into hboot.

in either case, the ruu is going to wipe your personal data,so be prepared for that. also, try to start the process with as much of a charge as possible. if you cannot get the phone to power off to charge, try to charge your battery in a different inspire. an att store may be able to help.

your post is fine here, but for the record the inspire forum is here: HTC Inspire 4G - Android Forums :)

hope that helps :)
