Help S4 mini memory problem

I have an s4 mini had it for around months now. Problem i am having is the internal memory is used up. :S i only have 6 apps install with 3 of them transfered to the SD card. Im not new to android as i had a desire that was rooted so that i could have more internal memory but sure 6 downloaded apps is not the s4 minis limit? Is there something i am not doing?

There are 2 things I would do:

1 plug it into a pc and inspect the files/folders in the phone to see what and where the data is (photos, videos, music, apps, games)

2. reset your phone as you only have 6 apps installed and start again (then monitor the memory left after each app is installed)

I've got a satnav app that takes up 1GB plus 33 other apps, and I've still got 3GB of free space left on the phone!
