Is the Note 4 a solid phone? A solid purchase?

So, my Droid Maxx bit the dust hard. Now I'm looking to update to a new phone. I'm looking over the phablet market as I grew accustomed to the Maxx larger screen and desired to go larger. I've been watching unboxing and reviews of the Note 4 and played with it a little at a couple stores here. I likey. However, with all new phones that just Co, e out there are new woes and major woes. How does this phone stack up to Others? I know this is a android forum but I would like unbiased opinions about other options like nexus 6, iPhone 6, and other phablets. I'm looking at phablets only. Nothing below 5.5 please.

Since I've never owned any of the other phones you mentioned I can't give you comparison. Though I'm sure they all have their pros and cons that you can see in various videos and reviews around the web, and ultimately it's going to come what matters to you and not what any of us think.
That said, this is my 5th android smart phone and it's clearly the best phone I've had.
I tried Apple once and only made it about 10 days before I had to return it. There was nothing at all wrong with the device (and typical Apple, the screen was gorgeous), I just don't care for the whole Apple ecosystem and the way things work. YMMV of course, but I personally don't care for Apple - iTunes most of all. Note that I'm not knocking Apple at all, they make great devices, they're just not for me.

I think it's the only one with an integrated stylus, and has some specific stylus programming for it as well. In other words, it's not just a pen...the phone has many features that center around the pen.

You can buy a capacitive stylus for any phone, but all it's going to do is simulate your finger with more precision. The Note 4's stylus is unique in that it has much more to offer.

You can't really go wrong with any manufacturer's flagship models these days. Everyone is making awesome devices. Some are better than others though :D

Thank you all so much for your recommendations and opinions about the note 4. I'm definitely sold. Watching all the unboxing videos and reviews I was sold before, but after reading your reviews and others on sites like Amazon, I'm even more sold. Now, just what color to get. Lol I think I'll go with white unless it easily gets dirty. Since it is plastic and not glassy on the back I'm afraid it will get dingy or dirty to the point that it can't be cleaned properly. I do plan on getting the Qi charging case for it though. Thank you again for all your help. My mind is made up. :)

Oh I forgot to ask. The speaker on the back, and seemingly very small from the videos and pictures. How loud is the phone? Can you have it half volume and still hear it in another room or something or do you have to turn it all the way up? It's just that tiny speaker doesn't look like it may kick out sound very well and when I played with it in the store I was testing various ring tones and they didn't seem very loud even at full volume. Granted I was in a busy part of the store and the ambient noise all over could have possibly drowned out the sound. Thank you for your help.

The Colour choice is purely what you like, whether you're keeping it as is or throwing it in a case. there are a few transparent cases out there, but most will be covering the bulk of the colour choice anyway.

I agree with AnonGuy about the speaker on the 3 being in a better place, I've moved into a 4 from the 2 and I'm used to having the speaker on the back. It doesn't bother me to much. I rarely have it sitting on something flat when watching videos, and the alarm clock ringer wakes me from the dead. Depending on where I am working, half volume works for me. the best place being in the middle of Cubeville on the 2nd floor. On the other side of that, sometimes miss calls when its turned down and i'm wearing the nice warm thick winter coat. ;)

Ok. I have another question. I cannot seem to find information or videos on this and I am guessing it just doesn't have it like the S5 and other S phones have. Does the Note 4 have that feature Eraser Mode? Where you can erase unwanted people or objects in a photo? I saw one video where a guy went to download more features for his camera and I didn't see Eraser Mode in there. If it's not included, then WHY??? And if it is included, where is it? I played with the Note 4 today and couldn't find it.
