Amazon Fire TV Stick vs. Chromecast,(Which is Better)?

I own both.

I like the Chromecast better because the phone interface is faster and easier, and because the only thing it runs is a compact Chrome OS with a browser and media player - it's never going to run out of storage. The phone is the remote, video goes from the Internet to your router to the Chromecast, so what your phone is doing doesn't matter - unless you're local casting your phone or personal media.

The Fire TV Stick has the advantage of the remote so I put it in the bedroom.

Fire TV Stick does load up its own apps, doesn't screen cast as reliably for everyone (although it's up to you if that's important) but does provide Amazon Prime and probably some channels that Chromecast doesn't.

I think they're both pretty good and a lot of the choice is just personal preference.

I never bought a Chromecast because it didn't run Amazon Prime. When the Firestick came out I bought it solely because of Prime support with an app, rather than having to use a browser. Great device for my needs. I'm now using it for Prime, Netflix, Kodi, ES File Explorer, BS Player and several more apps. It works like a charm.
If you subscribe to Amazon Prime, for $39, it's an excellent device (I lucked out and got it on sale at Best Buy for $25). Prime runs beautifully; no buffering, lag, etc. Using it for Netflix, Kodi, etc. is just iceing on the cake for me.
