Help Screen Flickering Pink/Yellow & No Wi-Fi

This morning my phone began experiencing issues I've never seen before. I left my house for awhile and had no access to wifi, so when I came back home naturally I decided to turn wifi on. I went to the settings page and tapped the "off-on" slider thing beside Wi-Fi, and it just said "Turning on..." and wasn't actually turning on. The slider stayed grey and on the off side. I checked my phone after a few hours and it said "Error" under the Wi-Fi option -- so I tried to turn it on again. Now it's just saying Turning on... and has been saying that four five or six hours.

I held down the power button and turned my phone off then back on, I restarted it, I took the battery out and put it back in, I factory reset it and cleared the SD card, I took the SD card out -- none of those worked. I ran a security scan through the SD card and internal storage before I factory reset it and it found nothing. This is leading me to believe it's a hardware issue, which would supersuck.

A couple of hours ago, my phone screen began flickering pink and yellow super fast like lightning any time I touch the screen. I turned auto-brightness off and it's still flickering no matter how high or low my brightness is. I don't believe there is any water damage as the only water that has been on my phone is maybe a few tiny drops here and there from checking the time in the rain or condensation from a water bottle. I've dropped my phone on a few different occasions and in fact I dropped it last night (I'm not careless, just pretty clumsy

).

If anyone knows what could possibly be wrong, please give your suggestions here. I've had this phone since 2011 and I really love it, is it savable do you think?

Would maybe rooting it help?

Rooting using Kingo root maybe helps, If not, Return your phone to the repair shop or Manufacturer for further problems and solutions.

How would rooting the device fix the issue exactly?

mattyshair, re the pink flashing, if you head to Settings - Developer Options, is "show screen updates" checked?

No, it's not. My phone isn't having either of the issues anymore so I'm pretty sure they were both hardware... I've never seen either of them happen to my phone before. I'm scared to even handle it like I normally do in case whatever was loose or broken goes back to that state.

If it were hardware, does anyone know what parts might be wrong with it? I'm not looking forward to taking it in to get it checked but I am looking into buying a new phone.
