Root [Virgin Mobile] Restoring phone?

How would i go about / what's the easiest way to return to stock? Currently my phone has Conquest-Dissent-10.0, and teachme's overclocked kernel. I love the phone but have recently moved to an S5 (Almost went s3 till i seen moon stopped dev for it) and the phone is being handed down to my folks. The overclock is killing the battery and they just need a simple stock working phone that's going to be reliable. I didn't know if i should delete everything and start from a naked stock rom, flash to the backup/mg5 or what ever the last backup was before you flashed conquest on to it. I would like to just do a system wipe and remove the overclocked kernel, not sure how i would go about doing that. When i look in my restore area i see i think one of the files for the conquest update called: 1970-01-09--04-44-08

You can't just erase everything. You won't have an operating system. You don't have the stock ROM in it anymore, you have a custom one. You can't erase the kernel, you need to flash a stock kernel. Is your phone baseband mg5? If you have a stock backup go ahead and restore it. Don't you have a backup from before you started flashing conquest? I think I still have a clean stock rooted mg5 backup. Check your baseband and let me know.

L300VPAMG5 is the base band, also i wasn't or was i asking to delete the kernel. Also there was that thread called "what to do when you delete the os" sure the links are dead but I'm sure someone has the stock os or one close to it that would work. When i said i wanted to delete everything and remove the kernel I'm talking about doing a factory reset so to speak ie cleaning out all the data, removing all the apps that didn't come default with conquest, and flashing a stock kernel and calling it a day vs trying to revert everything back to day 1 stock. I like conquest, I've had 0 issues with it other then the kernel killing the lifespan of the battery.

Mg5 I can help you with. I have a stock mg5 backup. Just put it in the folder where your other backups are, twrp/backups/serial number. Serial number will be your phones serial number. Put the mg5 folder I link you to in that folder. Then boot to twrp and go to restore and pick the mg5 and just restore it. The phone will be completely stock and still rooted. That's the best way to pass it on to someone.
madbat's stock MG5 backup
Let me know if you have any questions or problems.

Edit: also you should update it to nd4 after that. Let me know if you want to and I will get you the update zip.

What errors did you get? It has worked for everyone else. After you restored the backup did you change anything in system? When I did it I just restored the backup, booted system, let it update su binaries. Looked around to make sure it was good, then booted to recovery and flashed mg5 to nd4.
Edit: I may have linked the wrong update. I think that's the official 1, you need the no props mg5 to nd4. It has all assert props removed so you can use it while rooted. Its from Nick_73. I'll look for it.

Update: it looks like that is the right one. Its the one I used and have given to others. Maybe a bad download, not sure.
