Help My phone is trying to force an upgrade to Lollipop.

I was going to hold off on this and eventually root after I bought Sunshine or a free alternative was released. I woke up a minute ago and it just said "Lollipop is ready to install". I clicked to install later and it made me set a time. How do I stop it?

Other than wanting to root, I don't want to waste the limited data that I'm stuck with after Verizon literally lied to me about being able to keep right as they took it away (long story, Verizon has a history of lying to me.)

@SolApathy That method will only work temporarily for VZW phones. I found out the hard way last year that doing that will only stop the nagging for a day or two and then the app will again connect and download the update.

I also found out the hard way last year that the Install Later is just like the install now, except you tell the system when to install. If you press Install Later and set a time, it will auto install at that time, without asking you again.

For this Lollipop update, I simple hit the back button every time the message popped up. I found that if I left an app open, such as Play Music or texting, then the message would not appear. It was only if I closed my apps and turned off my screen that I would see the message the next time I turned on my screen.

My suggestion, if you are wanting to root, is to root ASAP. I have been reading some reports of people ignoring the message for a little over a week and then finding that the update auto installed overnight anyway.

Or take the update and root later. So far, I am enjoying the update...

I don't have the $25 at the moment, so I can't just yet. I swear to god Verizon is the embodiement of evil in corporations. They also lied at the store to my face about the insurance I got on this phone. Told me I could replace it in-store if anything happened and never mentioned a copay. Cracked the screen and found out I had to go to an entirely different company for a replacement.

Anyway, is there any news on rooting after an upgrade to Lollipop? Maybe if I call them and insist my phone not be upgraded because it'll waste my data they can do something.

I cannot find anything about root on Lollipop for the M8 at the moment. Doesn't mean it won't happen eventually, but just isn't there yet...

As for calling VZW about blocking the update, I am quite confident they will literally laugh in your ear.... The CS Reps don't care about their customers. They only care about their paychecks....

Most of them, yes, but I've had a couple good experiences with calling in. Guy at the store lied to my face about insurance. Told me if I accidentally cracked the screen or anything I could swap it out in the store. What he didn't mention was that he was lying and I have to go through a third party and pay $150.

Anyway, the phone is still asking me to upgrade every day. I set it to remind me at 1am, but it asks at various times. Major nuisance. Anyone figure out a way to stop it yet?
