810 v2.1

I've seen reports that it is definitely better, though I think it is too early to know for sure. I suspect it is greatly improved. I'm basing this partly of a concern by a reviewer of the 6P -- one who didn't seem to have attended the launch event -- who worried about the 6P, with it's metal case, being too hot to hold if the processor is run hard (that you'll need a case). I suspect if this were the case, that Google would have insisted on some changes during their testing of the preview phones.

I'll admit, this is one of the things I'm interested in hearing from reviews.

Hmm. I wonder if they've switched since the phones release.

This is my guess. They had a number of complaints and so, when the v2.1 was released, they switched to it for all new phones being produced. Of course, they don't want to state that they changed, merely say they use (meaning now use) the 2.1, both to keep the original owners from finding ways to swap to a phone with the v2.1 processor -- especially since they have the 'uh oh' protection -- and to prevent having issues selling the older phones.
