Help WiFi calling apps ?

I think this is getting a LOT harder then it has to be. I honestly can't think of anyone that I know of that doesn't have What's App, and as I said, the call to call with What's App works great! I just got off the "phone" with California via What's App and told them to send me videos of the kids Trick or Treating, lol. As long as the other side has What's App Robert you are good to go!!

P.S. Heck, I'm so convinced it's good I'll even call you from Spain so you can see yourself! Just P.M. me and I'll give you my number so you can add me!

It's easy to say that everyone has Whatsapp when in your contacts everyone probably does, in my contacts however I have 9 people out of 138 so not many for me. But again, that's just me

People can call you using your GV number or cell number and the phone rings just the same either way. Of course the cell number will work no better or worse, having a GV number doesn't affect reception on the cell connection.

I have all calls to my GV number forwarded to my cellphone number, and unanswered calls forwarded back to GV so that GV handles all voicemail for both numbers. Keeps it all in one place that way for simplicity and ease of use. If you call out using your cell number, people will see that. If you call out using GV they'll see your GV number.

But that stuff is in regards to using GV with your cellphone service. Regarding using GV with Hangouts for WiFi calling, all outgoing WiFi calls would be made with your GV number and that's what people will see. To reach you via WiFi, they could call either of your numbers because you have calls to your GV forwarded your cellphone. This is obviously preferable to keep things simple for you, people calling you and again, to keep all voicemail in one place.

I can't stress enough how useful GV and having two numbers can be. GV can do much more than just a second number and visual voicemail. Once you wrap your head around it, it's really not so complicated.

I don't see WhatsApp as a viable option for most people because the Whatsapp-to-Whatsapp thing is far, far too restrictive. No businesses are gonna have WhatsApp.

T-Mobile WiFi calling works very well, we use it. If T-Mobile has decent service in your area it's definitely worth considering. Or Project Fi...

So I have never used Google hangouts before and recently read a article on CNET regarding wifi calling and they list hangouts as one of the apps that uses the WiFi to make calls. Can any elaborate on this for me and suggest ? I live in a area that has poor cell tower coverage but I have Xfinity as my WiFi provider and its excellent. I am on AT&T have a Nexus 6. Also should note I use a microcell tower as well but its not very reliable still drop calls...

Skype and Viber comes to mind but if you need more choices check AA's list here: http://www.androidauthority.com/top-best-free-calls-android-phones-voip-19829/
With Whatsapp you can ONLY make calls to other people who have Whatsapp. With Google voice you can make WiFi call to ANY US number whether they have the app or not.

I have used Hangouts, Groove IP, Talkatone for wifi calling. They all seem to work pretty well. I have Xfinity business class internet and like you said it's fast and works well.

Now that's a lot of choice! :D

I've put Skype and viber to good use. But am curious what did you pick and if you recommend any of the others suggested here.
