Root How to disable that damn system write protection

Stupid question: how do I know if I need these or the old one? I just got the (used) ZMAX today and I assume it has been updated at some point. I am successfully rooted with TWRP installed. My build number is Z970V1.0.0B33.
If you are on the b33 stock firmware you would need to use the ones that @Telyx just posted a few posts back.

First I want to thank Masterccheif87 for all your work . Is there a list of Roms that work with the ZMAX that I could see there functionality , strengths and weakness. So one wouldn't need to install each to see what its like. I'm running butternoob Metro 4.4
R and use the switchers .
I'd like to thank everyone else ..that has enabled not only ROOT , but everything else that has been accomplished. My knowledge of the Android OS has grown greatly cause of all the posts that have been written since September 2014.

There is no list of ROMs that tells you what exact features every ROM has. There is however a complete ROM list for this phone with links to where every ROM is posted. Even for the ones that don't have their own threads.http://androidforums.com/index.php?posts/7144400

since people are to lazy to read lol and learn here ya go for b13
Honestly I've gotten tired of messing with switcher and restore zips all the time and testing everything over and over and flashing back to the stock ROM(which I can't stand) just to help people who can't even help themselves and do a little reading before they get flash happy. I couldn't possibly agree with something more than I agree with your last post.

I put these together yesterday using the new boot.img. They worked perfectly in my ZMAX.

Thanks @ghet2rockuu and @Telyx for posting the modded zips and saving me the time and effort. I added links to both of your posts to post #3 so that your zips don't become difficult to find. Anyone who can't find them now is just plain lazy.

I know I ask questions that are technical but I was wondering how to pull the baseband modem img out of the stock rom (B33) and use that instead of the baseband image that comes with these roms. I know it is possible I just have lost all reference to the steps oh how to do it.
What ROMs are you talking about? The only ROM you can use the b33 modem with is the b33 stock ROM in which case there is no need to backup and flash it.

Ok... Got root (permanent) a month or two ago but didn't get around to the switcher. Busy time + reasons. I don't always understand things as well as I THINK I do, or see things that seem obvious to others. Part of my condition, been that way all my life so I might as well get used to it.

Sequence of events:
Downloaded and md5 checked everything. Chrome doesn't download them right but Naked Browser does.
Kingroot
Install SU
Install TWRP (or was it the other way around?)

CHECK. Got Root, validated with Root Validator by Darken. Everything's green, though ATM I don't remember what I had to do to set SElinux to Permissive. Titanium works, Better Battery Stats works, Tasker works, all of my root-only favorites work.

Install Carbon 5.1.1, gapps. Cool, use it for weeks until last night, only issue is that ZTE set this phone up so that my 32gb microSD is basically only good as a place to keep porn. Think "Hey, maybe that's what the Switcher is for! This'll let me run things like I used back on my Droid Incredible 2 or my Galaxy SII with Jellybean, like App2SD. Maybe even set up virtual RAM or switch the microSD and internal memory instead of this emulated SD setup. Ain't I a clever boy?"

Last night I copy my microSD card on my computer, go into recovery, and make a backup of everything. Install the Carbon Switcher complete with a probably-unnecessary Factory Reset, wipe Dalvik and cache. Get my scare over the "No OS" warning, but look at the directions again and realize it's normal. Reboot recovery, reboot into Android. Set everything up again.

It seems like the Switcher didn't change anything. App2SD, paid version of Titanium, I have root but nothing that I have can move or link apps to the microSD or do anything else that I couldn't do before. Phone crashes, boots to recovery. Won't boot up to Android again until I flash the Restore that came with the Switcher.

So yeah, I'm confused and clearly overconfident. I apparently know enough to potentially screw myself but not enough to do what I want to do or even tell if I'm trying to do something impossible. Haven't messed with it since flashing the Restore, but what should I have been doing and how do I do it correctly? Am I stuck with how ZTE did it? I'm tired of the input lag in keyboards and the limited RAM and ATM getting a new job is a higher priority than getting a new phone!

First of all broski what is a "switcher" exactly? & by "restore" do you mean like a Nandroid backup?
All I can tell you is to read the first 3 posts. If it still doesn't make sense then don't use them because you'll probably brick.

I guess the question to ask is this:

Will a program like ROEHSOFT RAM Expander (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.swapit.expander.de) work on this phone at all or is it a waste of $10?

The tester app that they have says "Yes", but I can't use other apps like App2SD that also require the ability to read or write to the microSD because they try to do everything to the emulated microSD in internal memory or give me a message that the manufacturer does not allow operation.

Will the Switcher allow such apps to gain that access? It looks to me like I should install the Switcher and run an app like this to help my ZMAX with a performance boost, is there another step that I'm missing?
