Cortana app not compatible w/2012 tablet?

I have Cortana installed on my Note 3 phone (stock Lollipop 5.0), but for some reason it's not compatible with my Nexus 7 2012 tablet (stock Lollipop 5.1.1).

Can someone explain why this is? I want to sideload the apk, but am not sure what could happen.

I tried it on an Oppo with 5.1.1, it didn't want to know. Gets stuck at "What can I do for you now?"

If it's not compatible and doesn't work with 5.1.1, I think Microsoft needs to fix it. Although it should work, 5.1.1 has been around for a while.

Lots of fixes in 5.1 to problems in 5.0. I have no idea what capability is in 5.0 that is not in 5.1.1 and is causing this issue.

If you side load it ... the results are unpredictable.

Is the Google Play Store incompatibility related to Android version, or device type (phone/tablet)? I'm pretty sure Cortana could run on Nexus 7 2012 if it really wanted to.

I asked about this app for Droid ... X, Bionic, Maxx, Turbo, and Turbo 2 in Play Store. It reported Droid X as incompatible. Turbo is running 5.1 and Turbo 2 is running 5.1.1.

It's your device and you can do as you wish. If it is not root-ed the exposure is not too great in running an unsupported app. If it is root-ed you are opening the door to all manner of problems.
