Marshmallow (Android 6.0) is coming Q1 2016 to Turbo 2

FYI, Android 6.0, a.k.a., Marshmallow, will be arriving to our Motorola Droid Turbo 2 sometime this quarter, hopefully sooner than later. Happy New Year!

Droid Turbo 2 And Moto X Force

General users of Verizon Droid Turbo 2 are yet to receive the Android M update, Droid-Life reported. However, Motorola has already released the latest software for Droid Turbo 2 Employee Edition smartphones that are exclusively used by Verizon employees.

Outside the U.S., the Droid Turbo 2 was launched as Moto X Force. Motorola has not revealed any information on when it will be receiving Android 6.0.

Here's an update.

Motorola Droid Turbo 2 phones are expected to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow via official over-the-air (OTA) update in February or March 2016, as a growing number of device owners have come forward to lash out about its alleged poor software performance. In community forums, the vertical green line issue has not yet been resolved in all units affected.

FWIW the first turbo 2 I received had the line problem 5 minutes after turning it on. It was ordered through Moto maker and replaced by Motorola.

According to this article, we should be getting updates very soon!

I just checked if an update is available for my MDT2 and so far it's not.

Motorola's policy, as I recall, is to release the update to a small number of users by random each of the first two or three days. So long as there is not an issue, then they start rolling out to more and more people. Updates usually get out to everybody in a week. They do this especially for major updates like this one.

The last time I remember this not happening was the KitKat update in December 2013 for the 2013 Droids. They were starting a soak test one day and then word leaked out that they were just updating everybody. Sure enough, a handful of users had their phones bricked by the update to the point where they had to warranty replace the phones, and they pulled the update until a few weeks later for everybody who had not received it. So, it is smart for them to roll it out slowly.

Thanks for that info. and historical reference. But in this case, is it Motorola or Verizon Wireless that is performing the final "soak" tests and determine when it's ready for rollout? The folks at XDA were blaming VW for the delays.

The oem (Motorola, Samsung, etc.) always pushes the updates. Verizon approves them, the manufacturer pushes them.

As for soak tests, that's always Motorola.

I just checked for the Marshmallow updates on my Turbo 2 and I'm currently installing the first of two updates... I'm not part of any soak, or at least I didn't sign up for one.

I checked XDA Forums and people reported getting the update. I hadn't yet, so I checked manually and sure enough it appeared. I'll do it tonight after I plug in the phone. People have said the phone gets warm, so just beware.

Just finished getting the second update and doing a quick look around... it's ok so far. The phone does get warm but probably should be expected considering the amount of data that is being downloaded and installed.

It's early yet, but so far no issues...

I guess "Lawyer Herald" was indeed right.

I upgraded my phone yesterday. It took about 50 min. of actual installation time plus however long it takes you to download about 1.2 GB worth of updates via your Wi-Fi (or 4G if you have unlimited data or data BW to burn). The screen is on during the actual install, so you want to make sure your phone is at least closed to fully recharged if not plugged in.

So far, there's not a whole amount of differences. A few tweaks that I noticed. The only downside I've noticed so far is that AppMgr Pro III that I got from Amazon a few years ago doesn't seem to be able to "wipe cache" like it used to in the past. I guess they haven't updated it to make it Marshmallow compatible.

Also, the Marshmallow Easter egg game is just as terrible and impossible as the Lollipop game. The one I had on my previous phone (SGS4), which had Jellybean, was much better.
