With both the S5 and S6 Every time I delete my emails, because I get too many, they come straight back in again. My provider can't work it out and therefore "its not them". I have tried deleting the account and opening a new one but the same emails come flooding back in again. Any ideas???

Which email client are you using? Most likely there's an option under the incoming settings to not delete messages from the server, which is why they's reappear once you sync the account.
Ok. I am not all that tech savvy - what do you mean by email client? When I go into the settings; accounts; the email account is there but the only things I can see to do is sync - there doesn't appear to be any other options. I have been to almost every option in settings but can't work it out. Sorry to be a pain, can you help?

Email client is the same as email app, and in this instance the email app on your phone. Your problems could be a setting in your phone but a likely place to check is your email service. What email service do you use? (As in Gmail, or Yahoo, or whichever?)
It's usually a good idea to first get all the settings set up in your email service, often easier by logging into your account using a browser in a computer/laptop, and then set up your email on your phone.

My service is southernphone. I have been onto the site and checked the settings there, there doesn't appear to be a setting for deleting anything but what's in the trash folder, so I've changed a couple of things there. I will give them a ring and see if I can get any joy by talking to them direct. Thank you very much for the suggestions and help - it's such a relief to know that there is help out there for "the oldies".
Thanks again

Wow, perusing through Southern Phone's site is remarkably annoying. Trying to fine relevant information on something as basic as manual email settings is a journey into a rabbit hole.
http://www.southernphone.com.au/

Hope their tech support can help you but if not, I'm going to suggest you give some serious thought to just switching to Gmail or Outlook, or some non-carrier service. When you use the email service tied to your phone carrier or your ISP, if you change services in the future transferring your email account, and possibly contacts and calendar, could be complicated or problematic. With a service such as Gmail however, you can access it no matter which phone carrier you're signed up with.

I think you might be right. I have been thinking of changing for a while now and this has about settled it. Add to their complicated website their support, unless its urgent, is non-existent on weekends - which with Murphys law, is when everything goes wrong isn't it.

Thank you for your support and info and helping me to make up my mind about changing.
Cheers

I'm not exactly sure where the incoming setting is on the default S6 mail app, but i'd bet dollars to doughnuts that you've got the box checked to not delete messages from the server because that's the default setting. Try opeing the email app and then pressing the menu button. You should see a "settings" option. From there there should be a general settings and an incoming and SMTP (sending) server setup. You want incoming.

Ok - I have tried what you suggested and nowhere is there a settings or menu option in the email - there is "search" & "edit". Edit allows you to select a message which then gives you the option to delete, move, add star, mark as read. In actual settings; accounts;email all I can do is sync or remove account. Even on the service providers site in my email there is no option to delete anything except trash!! I have actually now deleted this account from my phone and opened a gmail account instead and I am not getting any problems at all now. Basically I think Southernphone email accounts for Samsung androids cause too many problems.
Thanks for all your help and advice. Cheers
