My Nexus 10 won't boot, it goes through the update apps, gets all the way to the end and says starting, then turns itself off. I'm trying to do a system reset following these instructions but am getting stuck.
I can get through step 3, select recovery mode, press & release the power button, but nothing happens. If I press & hold, then it tries to boot normally again. One time I managed to get through step 4 seeing the Android robot on it's back 1x, tried to reset the cache but that didn't fix the boot issue, and now I can't get back in to do the full reset.
At one point I got back to what appears to be boot options screen, the volume buttons aren't allowing me to switch between start, recovery mode, etc. I noticed that under the robot, it says "Downloading... Do not turn off target!!"
I'm not sure what it could be downloading, as it's a wi-fi only tablet and I wasn't connected to wi-fi currently. Someone on the Nexus support forums said "From what I've read, what you are seeing is the indicator of a download mode for using "Odin", which is an old Samsung exclusive way of flashing devices. This is not used by Nexus devices and is not an indicator that the device is actually downloading anything. Unfortunately I'd have to recommend that attempt to power down and start again."
It should have plenty of battery, and I've tried it both plugged in and not. My current plan is to let the tablet charge overnight and try again tomorrow. If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know.
