How about Aodin 2GB+16GB Android TV BOX?

Picking a streaming device can be really tough!

There are only two things to look at when buying an Android TV box...

1 - What version of Android is your box running? (4.4 is OK - 5 or higher is better!)

2 - When, oops, sorry, IF it breaks can you return it without any hassles.

Basically, can this box do what you bought it for and are you happy with the price?

Western Digital Live media player needs $249.99

Bloody hell! That's ridiculous!

UPDATE:

I have just had a quick look on the web...
I think they have discontinued these media players.
I can't find them even at Best Buy!

I have three of them... the first one that doesn't have any network configuration. (Just plays USB media.)
The next generation that you can plug in a USB WiFi dongle and pray that it works... most of them didn't!
The last one they made... WD TV Personal...

I still use them in my classrooms every day.
They're a bit sluggish but do the job. :)

I will looking for it now.

Pretty much all TVs sold today can do what the WD TV devices did when they were available.
Now you can just plug in a USB drive/stick with your content on it and launch the media player pre-installed on the TV.

The external boxes are really only useful now for older TVs.

The Android TV boxes are (if we're being honest) only really taking off because they can be easily configured to show illegal content.
If you took that away, then they'd just be another niche device for a few people with either really old TVs or for folk who just liked surfing the web and YouTube, etc, on a big screen!

Andrew, I agree with you. How about the Android Projector? It seems more powerful than TV BOX.

I've got a Jmgo P2.
http://www.jmgo.com/p2/summary.html (Chinese)

As far as Android goes, it's pretty basic, and the only apps I've installed are VLC, because the stock video player is cack, and Chrome. Most of the time I'm playing videos from a 2TB USB hard-drive plugged into it, or using it from my Macbook Air via HDMI, or Apple AirPlay. I chose this one really because it's got reasonably good speakers in it, and it does sound OK.

I've posted more details about it here...

AFAIK they are a legitimate manufacturer and do support it, not like most of the unbranded cheapo Android TV boxes. However I'm not sure about international availability of it, the Android on this one only has Chinese, and the carton was clearly marked as "For sale only in China.".

It does have an internal battery, that will run it for five or six hours.
...not sure if I'd really be that desperate to have a "home theater" while I'm hiking and camping.

I would love to get my grubby mitts on one of those to play with.

As a teacher, I can see lots of possibilities for them. :)

The ZTE SPro 2 looks especially sweet.

I'm a teacher as well. :thumbsupdroid: Thing is with LED DLP mini-projectors like that, including the one I have, they're not really suitable for typical school classrooms, it just isn't bright enough. If you have a small group of students around a table, and want to project at close range, maybe upto two metres, it's probably OK.

ZTE SPro 2 is a pretty gadget, but the price beyond my budget. I finally give up tv box and get the Aodin Projector 32GB.:) Andrew, really appreciated that you gave me the suggestions, they are very helpful.
