I came in here to look for a ROM for my phone. And saw a really stupid question in Android Forums. I know there isn't any stupid questions in life to ask . However, with Google Search and Youtube available, I just don't see how someone can go to a video first and ask that question there. I am sure hundreds of people saw this post already and figured not to answer the question. So I will do my best to answer your questions to What is a Custom Rom in Lame Terms. I will be assuming you have Samsung Galaxy phone. Typically, people who don't know the extent of a phone capabilities and has too much trust with Best Buy and Cell Phone companies, will buy the pricest Galaxy phone out there. And assume you are paying $1000 for the technology. It all marketing and Hype that will steal your money. Now that you have a pricy Samsung phone. Turn it on and and use it. Within a couple of weeks. Battery Drains slowly, Random Crashes, pay for apps, Cant customize too much or just change wallpaper. And in the background, without you using it. Data is sent to Samsung about your info from the phone without you knowing it. Bloatware. I know I haven't answered your question, yet regarding a custom rom. But I will now. A custom rom is much like an installation of Windows 7 fresh install. Just the operating system. Some apps. No Bloatware. Rooted means your are the Administrator. and you can customize it in soo many ways using an app called Xposed. One more thing, please look into all this stuff what I wrote about in youtube and watch the videos. I have received certifications in technology by watching youtube videos and downloading books in pdf in google. No school required all self taught. Also look into China Phones. My son, which is 11, just bought one. And i bet its better than yours. Its on presale. Called K6000 Plus. looked it up. its only $179 Has a 6080 mah battery. and has a quick charge of 1 hr and a half. and can charge other devices. and much much more. I have another China phone called Oneplus 3T from Oneplus. Bet you never heard of these company because they are from China. Well where do you think most phones are made from? Well hope this helped.
