Facebook isn't responding

In the last few days facebook won't respond when I try to open it on my Doro Liberto 820 Mini. I have no problems with it opening on my Motorola MotoG 2. I have tried updating both the phone software, but it shows fully up to date, and the facebook app. I have uninstalled and reinstalled facebook without success. Facebook notations appear on the shortcut, but it still won't open.
My Android version is 4.4.2, Facebook version: 113.0.0.16.70. Kernal version: 3.4.67
Can anybody help?

Has the FB app been updated recently? If so it may be that the update has a problem on your device.

I've just checked and the most recent update was 27 febi, which could fit with "the last few days". If that is the problem then you should contact them. Otherwise the options would be to find an older version, use an alternative app or use a browser.

By uninstalling & re-installing you've already tried the main user fi× I would have suggested.

Thanks Hadron that date does seem to coincide when the problems started. Using a browser does work as a temporary measure, but I would like to get it back to a single press on the app shortcut. You say contact them direct, I take it that is the only way to download the facebook app before the last update. Is that correct, or is there any other way?

This is a very low end phone, it most likely cannot run the Facebook app due to its limitations, and Facebook being a memory hog. Use a browser instead to access your Facebook account

Thanks Dannydet. Had no problems with the Facebook app before the latest update, so am going to try to get an earlier app downloaded and switch off auto-update. Going in through a browser does work, but a workable app will be easier.

I was thinking contact them to tell them the update does not work on your device, since they probably did not test with that one.

You can find older versions at apkmirror.com, which is a safe download site. Search for Facebook and you will be able to find the previous version in there (you'll have to scroll through a lot of alpha and beta versions, but it is there).

I must admit that I didn't report it, so I will now. Thanks for the lead on apkmirror.com. I will try that, but can't for now. Will let you know how I get on when I can.

Truth is that I send more messages than I actually post stuff. I know people who post their itineries, or post photos of things they see during the day, and my daughter signs-up for events as a way of getting a reminder (whether she actually goes or not). I know some people who use it for political discussions. But most people I know are occasional rather than frequent posters.

I actually don't have the app installed on my phone, just use a browser, so don't get bothered by notifications. The way I look at it nothing posted on FB is urgent enough that I need to be interrupted to be told about it.
