I have had my Galaxy S8 for about a day now after upgrading from Nexus 5. The new features are nice but I'm finding this thing extremely hard and uncomfortable to hold. I am still waiting for my silicone case from China to arrive.
I absolutely hate the curved edges on the phone and am not sure why anyone would make such a design. My Nexus 5 had flat edges which were much easier and comfortable to hold. I am hoping the case I buy will fix this issue or maybe I can find a case with flat edges?
The glass back is another stupid idea as well as the curved display. The glass back adds weight and makes it slippery. A simple plastic back would have been fine. The curved edges makes text run off at weird angles and is simply a gimmick. Other than having notifications on the side when used as clock on nightstand and for marketing videos, I don't see any point in this. It will be covered up by case and if not will make it more breakable.
The length of the phone is not right. The proportion is wrong. It looks more like a candy bar shape than a shape of a phone. When I reach my thumb from bottom to top, I come up about a half an inch down from top unless I really stretch thumb can't reach top. It should have been maybe half an inch shorter for looks and functionality.
Has anyone else had such complaints for these issues or gotten past them? I am seriously consider selling and going back to Nexus 5 until I can find a suitable replacement.
