Newbie help with rooted phone

Hi all,
I am new here and this is my first post. I am not at all techie and have been lumped with a 'rooted' Note 2 and I have absolutely NO idea what to do as I can't update the android to run so of the apps I have now lost access to.

As I am not really that techie, I wonder if someone could please post me a VERY SIMPLE (if there is one) step-by-step guide as to how to resolve this matter WITHOUT losing my apps or data.

I dint know if this is possible, but any help will be grateful received.
