The Galaxy Note 9 Rumor & Pre-Release Thread

I have the $$$ saved in case I learn something about it that compels me to pre-order it. Then I can sell my emergency reserve phone (currently Maxine, my Moto X Pure Edition) and Jeanette will assume that role. If not, the Note10 is a definite. Given the rumors about next year's flagships, 2019 should more than make up for the tepid profits this year.

I just got the notification that the Bixby levels are going away. Shame, because I just made Level 7! I guess that's part of the 2.0 phase-in...

I guess the Samsung finally realized, even bribing people won't shine a good light on poor, poor pitiful bixby.

BTW I hope you are all following the Note9 forum! If not, you missed the story that the Shop Samsung app has already begun taking reservations for the Note9! This seems to be in the United States right now - but it allows Samsung customers to get a jump on the pre-order rush.

Reserving a Note9 does not commit you to buying it! Go ahead and reserve it (I recommend the UNLOCKED version) - if you're not impressed with the Unpacked Event, just don't follow up on the subsequent confirmation to pre-order. Your reservation will simply expire.

So you learned your lesson about buying a carrier locked version did you, Chief? I will be skipping the Note9 for sure as I am still loving my unlocked carrier free Note8 but I will be in the Note9 forum learning everything I can so I will be prepared for the Note10 or NoteX or whatever they call it! That one will likely break the bank.

Why, yes I did! I was incensed that Samsung would just roll over and allow Verizon to make them dumb down the Settings just for them - apparently Verizon does not think highly of its customers' intellect.

It will be a roll of the dice for the Note 10, though: I've read several articles suggesting that if Note9 sales are as lukewarm as the S9 sales were, Samsung will pull the plug on the Note line. That said, I know the tech blogosphere and they're all very good at quoting one another in a race to grab headlines... so the whole topic may have been started by one tweet from someone claiming to be a Samsung employee, who posted it as a joke. Then one tech site published it, and 5 more quoted that, then 20 more quoted those to confirm the rumors, etc.

I can't see the S Pen disappearing any time soon - they may change the name of the Note to something else, but it will essentially work the same way.

I'm interested in upgrading from my Huawei Watch - it runs Wear 2.0, but it's several years old. However - if the Galaxy Watch is running Tizen, they can keep it.

EDIT:

No, they can't keep it...
:p

I have this gorgeous silicone case for the Note9 with gold accents... and overnight I slept on how stunning that Ocean Blue would be with the gold trim (and gold-ish S Pen). This morning, I pulled the trigger... I got the Note9 in the Blue on the Samsung Upgrade Program... which will put me up front for the Note10 next year; the Galaxy Watch, because it can do things my Huatch can't; and the dual wireless charger, because that makes sense. I should have it all within ten days!
