Help Google Play System Update stuck at 2021 may 1

I have been struggling to update this in the recent months in my stock Android 11 - Unihertz Atom L device. I tried to clear cache and app data for Google Play Store, Google Play Services, finally I tried to factory reset the whole device, but no luck. I can't update it manually. It says it's up to date... The manufacturer cannot help me because they dont know what is this. There are users who dont have this problem. How I get support from Google, or how I can report this bug to Google? There are articles about this phenomen with other Android 11 devices but no one knows what happens when this update stops working monthly, there is no fix for this? Even if it works the update is pushed randomly and no one knows when you will get finally. I reseted the phone 2 days ago, but I dont know if will update at some point or not. The whole process is a mess from Google, because the manual update is not really manual. Thank you for helping me!

I can't help you, but only say welcome to my world as I was about to raise this as well. I am stuck on 1 August in Play Services.
My Xiaomi Poco F2 was released in May '20, though I have another Mi 10 Lite released the same month which is up to date with security and Play Services.

I assumed the Manufacturers push Play System updates along with Security patches but now am not sure. My Xiaomi devices update every 2 - 3 months so I may wait until February in case they skipped one (security patch on my Poco is OK)

Anyone?

This update is pushed by Google with Play Services, the Unihertz manufacturer told me that they only push the Android versions and the Security update, but not this one.

I cleared Cache, and also Data on the Google Play Services app but it restored itself within a day or so, I don't know.
(I see you did also.)

I tried other things I cannot remember - looked through all the Settings. Via Data and Wifi are ticked as far as I can see, on both Google and my UI settings (MIUI).

I raised a ticket with them - Xiaomi , they responded about a double account last year - but not this time, and the owners forum is difficult to fathom.

Perhaps as you say it's a Google thing they won't acknowledge. I'm on Android 11 also. Play Store apps update manually (of choice) just fine.

I have been having problems on this Poco and a Motorola E6 phone where it won't update a text to Speech or language uodate (constant notification) although it's now resolved on the Poco. I suspect this is a common issue too.

It's just bugging the hell out of me.

Hopefully someone will have a simple solution here.

This update is from the Google's Project Mainline, to skip the manufacturers slow updates, and adress security, codec and other updates for some dedicated system components. This is very important especially if the manufacturer stops pushing the Security updates. Now is just broken somehow in Android 11 with some devices and scenarios. I had no issues on Android 10 with this. We dont know what is causing the problem with this update. We need some help from Google directly. There are several topics in the internet with this issue, but there is no solution. With Android 10 I had this update in every month, and worked fine.

In the Android 10 the Project Mainline includes less components than Android 11. Maybe one new component update failed and wrecked the whole update process. This is just a speculation from me, but how the hell knows ...

Because Project Mainline is not just .apk's. There are apx components too. There is one component that changes only the cosmetic date in the setting, it is falsely advertised as a fix for this problem. But it's not the full update. We also dont know the full list

Tese devices do this sort of thing themselves, and when a device reaches a certain age, they stop.

Trying to force it to happen is often a fruitless endeavor.

At best, no update.
At worst, functions cease or are limited.

I guess I just do not see the point in trying to jump the gun and beat the manufacturer.

Hopefully they will release an update that will fix the problem.

As far as I know, system updates are not able to be removed.
That is why I am always leery of any update, and will look to see people's reactions to it before I allow it.

l abhor anything from Google, and cannot possibly see why anyone would trust them to make system updates.

At any rate, I looked up this Project Mainline, and it sounds like the typical Google crap that I stay away from.

I understand your point but the Android is marketed with this feature in the home page. If this is not working it's bad for Google's image, and it's not some minuscule thing, because this includes security updates. We paid for the Android when we bought the phone, we want every feature of it.

Well, consider this a 'feature', then.

Your issue with it is the 'feature'.

This is a 'feature' that can be done without.

The 'security' updates are usually just Google taking more control of the device, and updating junk apps that don't need it.

Just look at Google Carrier Services.

The app does NOTHING.
And by that I mean absolutely nothing.

Nothing that Google wants you to know about, anyway.

It appears that something is going on, because people lost SMS capability when Google rolled out a bunk update to this nothing app.

Are you sure there is even an update available for your device?

What do you think you will gain with an update.

My guess is that the whole thing is a can of worms.

If Google cared about their image, then they wouldn't spy on everybody, and try to control our devices.
