Root 1st Eris root, need some help

Rooted the Eris, mainly so I can move apps 2 sd card. I am trying to use Link2SD, but says i need 2 partions on the SD card, How do I go about making a 2 partitions without losing any of the data on it?

You can't*. You need to save the data from the SD card, partition using Recovery, then copy the files back.



* - it may be possible to partition non-destructively while mounted to a Linux computer, but I can't recall the procedure, it may depend on the Linux build, and you can never fully trust a non-destructive partition anyway, so I would back up the card anyway.

I followed that guide to partioning the sd card, and after i did that it works. What is a good ROM i could use? I want the phone to be able to be a little faster, and right now it has the stock rom on there but is just rooted.

xtrSENSE. Excellent ROM, and, if you are used to stock, you'll know it from the get-go.
