Help 3 and a half hours battery at 30%. Please help

I'm very sorry to post another battery related problem....but.
Since I charged my Desire HD in the car, my battery life is noticeably crap!
It drops from fully charged over nite to approx 30% after 3 and a half hours.
During the 3.5 hours I checked emails checked Goal.com and looked here in
the forum for a solution, so i'd say it was in use for about 45 minutes.
Everything else seems to be as normal.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Mike

I think this might have something to do with your car charger; apparently some of the generic ones you pick up in garages etc don't charge properly and therefore your battery drains really quickly. Also over time it can kill the battery

Apparently in this case branding does matter and this is the recommended charger HTC CC C200 Micro USB Car Charger

I read about this in another post in this forum but can't remember where; I was using a generic cheapy charger and as I use it a lot I decided to take the advice and got the recommended one and have noticed a difference.

Thank-you for that.
Do you think the damage has been done? Or will it sort itself out with using the mains
Charger over time?
I'll look into the proper one.
